Hi the brother of a friend of mine passed away last year and in amongst his collection of old racing books was this photo. We think we can identify Richard Hannon snr, Frankie Durr and Greville Starkey but would welcome it if any of the community can identify any of the others in the photo. The gentleman who passed away lived all his life in Salisbury so we assume the photo was taken in a pub in Salisbury, perhaps sometime in the last 60's or early 70's.

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Joe MERCER - Middle row - over Richard Hannon's right shoulder - and the old man's left shoulder

Willie CARSON ? - bottom left, front row - with the woman's arm around him.

Know the face of the guy over Hannon's left shoulder - bu cannot put a name to him.
Likewise top row middle.

* I wonder if the old man is a retired trainer - celebrating a Golden/Diamond Wedding, or something similar

If Greville is bottom left - which it looks quite probable ....

Who is the Greville Starkey lookalike above him - Middle left?

Is Greville Starkey not the one behind Richard Hannon?

^ 'Never in million'

Greville Starkey is bottom left (as you look at the Photo) - or a long-shot Carson.

You could perhaps try the IJF. I'm sure some oldtimers there would know a few and would be glad to help out (particularly if you enclose a cheque!).

If Joe Mercer has any involvement with this picture, it can only be the possibility that he took it, because he most certainly is not IN it Crazy Shocked

Who is the Joe MERCER 'Double' then?

Richard Hannon, Frankie Durr and Richard Linley - I would bet heavily on. I would be a big layer that Greville or Gary Moore appear. Just an observation but the little bloke attempting to breastfeed is probably not Willie Carson.

He even has the same CHIN as Joe Mercer, too.

would agree and 90% certain back row Jeff King, Linley and a young Andy Turnell.

I would have said that is Joe Mercer behind Hannon's right shoulder, bit more hair then.

Starkey, Durr, Hannon def. But no idea who the old couple are or the 3 other in pic.

The elderly couple are Mr & Mrs B Davis and it was a party to celebrate the victory of their horse Mon Fils in the 1973 2000 Guineas. Hannon trained it and Durr rode it.
