How come these working men he was so fond of weren't even allowed a ballot - almost 30 years on that still makes me rage - they weren't even allowed a ballot. He didn't fight for the men who were prevented from going to work by flying pickets did he?
I was in South Wales at the time of the strike and all he did was to convince those men that their mines were being shut down because they were Welsh mines. You were taking your life in your hands if you tried to bring truth into any discussions - truth that the coal was no longer financially viable to mine, or that it was just running out. He convinced so many to adopt a victim mentality which still exists to this very day. People talk of the damage Thatcher did to South Wales, but Scargill's damage was insidious - he convinced the men that miners was all they could ever be, that it was better to stay home on the "sick" than realise that their (filthy, dangerous) industry had gone and things had to change. That victim mentality still exists today and it is that which has done the most damage.

I think you will find the UK has always paid in more than it gets out. At the time the proposition on the table was rather obviously against Britain's interest. Thatcher ( correctly ) negotiated it down as would any other PM. She called it a rebate because she could make political capital out of that.

you say this lies its a bad thing...but having checked wiki there is no mention of mrs T having had a hand in the progression of mobile telecommunication in fact , i did find this though,

I wish people would stick to FACTS. Supporters of Scargill just seem to say they hate Thatcher for what she did yet give no rationalle behind that assertion. Scargill for that matter sent his secretary Peter Heathfield to Libya to negotiate funds for the miners with Gadaffi, an international terrorist who supplied arms to the IRA, and later sponsored the Lockerbie bombing. Heathfield himself had doubts about Scargills strategy but was frightened to say. Scargill, for his part, was reported (not proven) to be negotiating with Moscow over financial support for the miners. Does asking countries like this,at the time opposed to England,( cold war)not give the impression that there were moves afoot to subvert this country. Do the supporters of Scargill et al really support this?

The magnificent feats of engineering you see all over Britain are testament to the worth of previous generations,this is now sneered at looked down on by the like of Facts and Captain Christy,the liberal elite have taught the young to be ashamed of their past as a way of breaking down nationalist feeling thus preparing the way fot the unelected European burocrats to take over.
An outsider looking in can see and not be afraid to comment on the terrible things happening to your country,it is only now a matter of time before London is under Sharia Law.
