Only 27 years old, he has a great future ahead of him. Definitely the man to fill Big Macs shoes on Ch4 racing.
By:
Margaret Thatcher was opinionated.
By:
Chapman would certainly have livened up Channel 4 coverage compared with some of the deadbeats they have on now. Nick Luck, the poor man's George Osborne, for instance.
By:
yeah love him or hate him he would be great on channel 4
By:
he's only 27? REALLY? I seem to remember him been 27 when he was a presenter on the old AT THE RACES. he must have been 27 for the last 10 years.
By:
the only time he will see 27 again is on a door
By:
sometimes makes you cringe but agreed a good listen- i like him

Michael Stoute, sorry Sir Michael, is a terrible loser. I remember when his runner got beat in the Leger and his partner went to console him and he ignored her and stormed off in the huff. Love him or loathe him, Chapman says what he thinks and doesn`t kow tow to them. Stoute would be the last person in the world I`d hire as trainer.

Pisses me off when people say about Chapman that he 'says it like it is'. Really? Maybe he does when it suits himself. How many times does he tell the truth about a Fallon or Spencer poor/iffy ride? Great man though for slagging a yank jockey who he'll never see/speak to again. Hardly reads out emails anymore during racing as he's too busy waffling on after every race. Best in the business in his own mind no doubt.
By:
he's 34 ya tool..get ya facts right!
By:
As I have said before on here, the guy is great TV imo.
By far the best presenter on ATR. Should be used more by them, and lets see less of the dull bore that is S Boyce ![]() |
By:
....yer not wrong there....
By:
surely the jobsworth enzo runs boycie close to be the most boring
By:
Matt goes as far as he dare these days. A few years ago he came close to losing his job for having a go at Joe Fanning.
By:
One of the best after R P of course
By:
good presenter but awful judge....stumbled cross his Cheltenham Festival wisdom when binning some RPosts at the weekend:-
'You have to let your head rule your heart. I love Hurricane Fly but could i back him at the price? No. Same applies to Sprinter Sacre, Simonsig, Quevega and Bob's Worth. In contrast, Rock On Ruby and Long Run are too big.' That, sir, is a full house! |
By:
The mighty mac, I recall that exact moment - it made the same indelible impression on me. Quiff had just been touched off in the Leger, which he had never won. I suppose it's the behaviour of a guy who can be summed up in two words, both of six letters and both starting with a w and ending in r.

By:
Chapman is great viewing, can laugh at himself and yet is very knowledgeable...and unlike some presenters he realises Racing is supposed to be an entertainment industry. He can make a mid winter AW Southwell meeting entertaining.
By:
Sounds just like the great man himself. |
By:
very knowledgeable?

Mister Know it All.

By:
Most of them are pretty bland, personally I find him entertaining,in reality for me it,s a side show, watching the race is what it,s all about.
By:
but duncan you know yourself that results are completely irrelevant - the only thing that matters is that you get value
By:
Presumably, Matt is not "friendly" with many people employed in the racing industry and is therefore not averse to having a go from time to time.
Many other presenters presumably are "friendly" with plenty and are therefore most unlikely to criticise their mates on TV. Nor should we expect them to - that is life. Answer - simply employ presenters who are not "connected" with the racing industry and you would then get less "fence sitting". |
By:
i like matt
By:
agreed - he's the only one who dares to criticize. Thats priceless. Don't matter a jot if you 'like' the bloke.
