The following I left out of the main quiz as I thought it was probably too obscure, anyone want to take a guess at it?

Looking for two jockeys who rode as amateurs and finished first and fourth in a race at Aintree over 4 decades ago before
joining the flat trainers ranks and quickly surpassing anything and everything they achieved as riders.

One tasted Classic glory among the circa 700 winners he trained, the other has bagged around 1,300 victories and although
better known for multiple winners in lower class races, he has been responsible for a runner in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

Name the two individuals, the Classic winner and race relating to the first and the Arc runner relating to the other?

This guy was a couple of years before Bryan Smart, whose horse incidentally was Sil Sila who won the Prix de Diane in 1996 but didn't run in the Arc

Mr Casey doesn't have 1.300 victories to his name Onlooker, good guess though
