agree, the whole meeting's get a dreadful press on all channels, especially seems there's more of an agenda from the Beeb now it's not theirs.
Report Wesdag April 5, 2013 4:57 PM BST
Exactly.

It's like they're rubbing their hands and licking their lips waiting for fatalities.

Sky Sports News have it flashing across their screens on the yellow ticker too, idiots.
Report Steamship April 5, 2013 5:03 PM BST
Best to avoid the News because you will get opinions from people who know absoloutely nothing about horses and where probably happily eating one a few weeks ago.

I wish someone who is involved and was a good communicator would have a proper debate on what is acceptable regarding animal welfare.

That said I am losing faith all the time in the course and dread tomorrow at 4.30.

Non racing folk outnumber us massively, whatever they know or don't know they will not go away. In fact the less they know the more likely they are to raise their concerns when fed with biased news headlines.
I agree with steamship, if racing cannot get it's point across, the sport may be in trouble soon.
Report saddo April 5, 2013 5:13 PM BST
Have we lost any today, btw?

I'm a BBC supporter, but quite shocked about how much the Beeb are vilifying Aintree, this week.

Obviously some sour grapes tactic. It seems memos have been sent out.

This in the same week, (whisper it) former BBC employee and columnist Paolo di Canio got a fair bit of hypocritical flak.
(I'm not comparing the two, obviously)
Report dustybin April 5, 2013 5:16 PM BST
what you gunna do, phone BBC to tell em they know nowt about racing, because if they did they'd know horses die quite often at lesser meetings through out the season?
Report Santry April 5, 2013 5:17 PM BST
In the jumping game a few horses are killed on track each week without it ever appearing on the National news. Aintree may be bringing a focus on the sport that people who want to ban NH racing totally are using to push their argument.
Report saddo April 5, 2013 5:21 PM BST
Of course, the public are being manipulated by skilled people with an agenda, it is not the business of the BBC news to give out unbalanced nonsense.

Ta, tt, a shame but they'll all be killed if the antis get their way.
Report Navel-Gazer April 5, 2013 5:23 PM BST
Why don't the BBC mention the ones that perish at Plumpton on a wet Monday?
Are their lives less worthy to those ever so caring RSPCA bellends?

It's a clear agenda these sickos have, and a few of you need to follow my lead in fcukin' them right off with that licence fee!

BBC is a dreadful outfit.

Complain to the BBC about this disgusting reporting. I have. The link is on their homepage - just type 'complaint' in their Search facility.
Report alun2005 April 5, 2013 5:45 PM BST
Here's the duplicity of the modern media writ large.  It's a truly desperate attempt to rain on the C4 (and Clare B in particular) parade.

On no other occasion in recorded history have any UK 24/7 media outlets been keeping a daily scorecard of dead or injured horses.
Report bilbobaggins April 5, 2013 6:17 PM BST
It's funny - as soon as I suggest you actually DO something the thread goes quiet.

Main 6 o clock news showing replay of death of Little Josh - disgusting
Report Dr Gonzo April 5, 2013 7:02 PM BST
Ghoulish is exactly the right word.

They've done some really good build-up to it on 5 Live this week, but they're really letting themselves down with this reporting.
Report Wesdag April 5, 2013 7:24 PM BST
They'll be gutted if Seabass wins and every horse returns unscathed.
