FFOS LAS 5.05 Hunter Chase

ROSIES PEACOCK

Looks to have an outstanding chance here granted a clear round!
Much better than the majority of these on its P2P form, regularly running in Open races.
A winner of 14 points on various ground…..Took a couple of races to find its form this season but has bounced back,  winning  its last 2 easily.
Led all the way last time ( usually up with the pace) & is hard to pass once in front.
Its only had 2 runs in hunters  2010/11, didn’t finish in any of them, but those hunters were way better than this & barring mishaps , should take the beating.

BOOKS REVIEW
Would ideally prefer better ground & coming back from a lay off has a difficult task, but its form would entitle it to win this if fit.
Nearly held on at the Cheltenham Hunter Chase night, being collared by Doctor Kingsley..the rest nowhere, but disappointed in its 2 runs after, maybe that race left its mark, as it broke a blood vessel when last seen.

DOC WELLS
Only won a Members race last time & that form is not good enough to win this

CRANNAGHMORE MIST
Finished 2nd in a  4 runner restricted  11 days ago after a lay off of 3 years ( odds on fav)….. this run  maybe coming too soon & needs to step up considerably to win this.

MY FELLA
Ground will be no problem, only one paced  last time after belting the 3rd last & was easily beat, another that needs to improve on what it achieved to win this.

LION ON THE PROWL
The fly in the ointment……another that could easily win this, but seems to need a run after a break.
Just in front of pointer cool star in a nov chase before that one fell 2 out….on that form ROSIES PEACOCK should finish in front of   LOTP imo.

Not really much in the race & ROSIES PEACOCK should take some pegging back here granted a clear round!

LUDLOW 5.45 Hunter Chase

A hot little race which will ultimately  come down to the ground.
Phillip Rowley runs two in here, Surenaga & THE GENERAL LEE.

THE GENERAL LEE

Ran the opposition into the ground last time over course & distance & a similar front running ride should see THE GENERAL LEE tough to beat here…
It has always run well when leading/prominent …a different story when its held up, seems to disappoint it
Ridden again by Jane Williams who rode it last time & also in its point wins…knows the horse well.
The ground would be a slight worry, but has run/won with plenty of cut in its points….
Jumps very well & stays well…..it will be a disappointment if it doesn’t go very close.

RUMBURY GREY
Rated a fair bit in front of these & would have been a good thing if it wasn’t for the going, it is just not the same horse on soft ground….well beaten by Dantes Storm last time on ground that suited it well….Steve Flook has only had the one winner in Hunters this season….a far cry from last season when everything he was running was winning.
Not the best of jumpers & has a habit of hitting one, will probably try to be up with the pace, but just cant have it on the ground.

SURENAGA
A stable mate of THE GENERAL LEE, but not the most straight forward horse & definitely has a jumping problem….also prefers better ground.
Ran 3rd in its last hunter, not beaten far, but it was a very poor race & the 1st & 2nd were well beaten next  time….It was beaten into 4th last time in a fairly good P2P…..but will struggle here imo…..its jumping will definitely be put to the test.

FINDLAY´S FIND
Definitely needs fastish ground, trainers states that the horse always feels like its going to fall on bad ground.
Pulled up on its P2P seasonal debut, made no mistake last time when bolting up, although the fav (classinaglass) was still leading 2 out when pulled up…..
FF will probably ridden out the back & off the pace…might just find it too much in the ground

If THE GENERAL LEE runs the race it did last time it will take some stopping… on a course it seems to love
Ground not ideal, but probably worse for the rest, ……so has to be the bet given conditions.

A Day off mate, time to go through them.
Report Salut-Flo March 28, 2013 1:41 PM GMT
Are you concerned about Rosies Peacock's attitude Koi? Didn't seem interested at Larkhill and was even worse at Buckfastleigh when John Mathias was constantly trying to get him on the bridle but he had no interest. Not convinced that was a case of the horse taking a couple of runs to find its form and it has won 2 dire races since.

Not sure i quite agree with idea that The General Lee gets disappointed when held up. Seemed to run his best race when held up in the 2011 Champion Hunters at Stratford. Will be taken on for the lead by Extra Bold today, who looks too big based on Leicester 4th, so may drop in behind instead?

Good luck Koi.

Stablemate of TGL wins.....

TGL always seems to disappoint when held up like that, although probably couldnt get to the front.

Could never have backed the winner though.

I don't think too many saw that performance from Surenaga coming koi.  Not much you can do about that.
Report tommysmum March 28, 2013 6:32 PM GMT
Since Sunday March 10th, Philip Rowley has had 10 ruuners in Points, 9 won (6 ridden by Alex Edwards) the other fell at the last (4 lengths clear of stable companion and winner). This shows the stable in form and also the rider. I know he also trains The General, but it didn't take a giant leap of faith to see the winner coming back to life. Surenaga, past winner of Royal Artillery and Lady Dudley Cups has always been rated higher than The General, who really is only a ladies race horse.
Report halcyon days March 28, 2013 6:33 PM GMT
Presume you had a ''touch'' then Tommy ?...
Report tommysmum March 28, 2013 6:37 PM GMT
Got a few quid, didn't back it until race started, but when The General couldn't get the lead, 40 & 50 was a big price.

I'm an old punter, its took me ten years to learn how to bet on here, the last time I posted bets was to Shermans when I was at school in the 60's. I don't tell lies about betting, other things yes.
Report miprixabloater March 28, 2013 8:11 PM GMT
tommy, Shermans that brings back memories, they were a decent firm, you must be going back 50 years.
Report tommysmum March 28, 2013 8:18 PM GMT
