Since nobody has seen fit to mention it I can only guess that the OP is referring to Gabriel the Duke?
If so, anybody with even partially functioning eyes could see that the horse was hanging virtually all the way round and despite Spencer´s strongest urgings was doing nothing to help the jockey. |

TiptheOdds is correct. The horse was hanging quite bad from 4f out and looked an awkward ride after watching it again. I think Spencer was concentrating on getting the horse to run in a straight line before he started driving away.
