Was he referring to himself?
By:
He made 2450 to stakes advised at Cheltenham.
By:
according to tipsterform
By:
i agree with his summing up of cheltenham.
By:
seemed fairly fond of tipping horses from rogue stables at Cheltenham like Byrnes, Elliot and O'Neill.

Good article today I thought. Not about the "Value" etc.... but about Cheltenham devouring the entire National Hunt season

When I come up with the same as him

Would like to know exactly what he is referring to. Is it the fact you cant get a bet on with the so called bookmakers or is it the prices are stingy in the first place.
By:
would be iconic if even he cant get decent odds
By:
differentdrum to suggest Segal is not up to the job is just stupid.
By:
You have to laugh if Pricewise with the pick of the prices, often an underround book and no limit to his bets, or closed accounts, moans about value!

not many spotted beneficial 20/1,had one a grade 1 by 11 length.

he showed a profit...more than most did
By:
utter rubbish.....
even though he selected two winners.. he made a profit of nearly 2500 for 100 pound stakes... mind he had two unlucky losers.... what else u need from |
By:
at BSP
By:
I can vouch that he made a very small profit as starting price, and he doesn't do this very often, so I'm guessing he also did at bsp.
By:
He describes his punting week as 'mostly useless'. His words, not mine.

I never understand all this hostility towards Tom Segal. People need to know the facts, and stop slagging him off because the bookmakers won't let you play on his selections.
I have records on over 80 regular tipsters, with some going back to 2007, and I use two prices, the one that was available when I became aware of the tip (i.e. not the one published), and the starting price. Tom comes easily clear on the first price, and way down the list on starting price. He is not responsible for the starting price. The bookmakers have made sure you can't win using starting price. They've done the same with Hugh Taylor and Gary O'Brien. PS I don't back his tips very often. |

I had a good day yesterday - made a profit of nearly £10 million pounds to £12 million pound stakes...
By:
so on a big race on a saturday why would the punters pal segal put up the fav ,knowing the bookies would strangle the price ,meaning even if it won millions of saturday punters who backed it would actualy lose
By:
I'm having difficulty in understanding how you can lose when it wins, no matter what the price ?
Enlighten me. |
By:
backing a 3 to 1 shot that should be 5 or 6,s means you lose in the long run, allegedly, it was a an early dec race so segal no,s more that anyone that any value in the horse had already been squeezed out of it or does he think he spotted something every punter and bookmaker hadnt spotted in the previous 48 hours
By:
Ok, I think I see your logic, and agree, but judging a man on one tip is a bit extreme, especially as it's probably the only favourite he has put forward in a very long time.
His method is about looking for value, and there's plenty of value in backing a favourite that you still think is the wrong price. |
By:
not 48 hours after every other tipping line has had their mucky paws over it
By:
Don't understand what he's complaing about. He tipped Flaxen Flare at 25/1 and it returned an SP of 25/1. It returned BSP of 40 I think.
There is no other meeting around where he can tip a big priced horse and it won't be backed in much shorter than it's advised price. There is so much money floating around for Cheltenham that even Seagull's tips retain their value. |
