How on earth did the Mangan get that beat in the last, she doesnt look unlucky now, she looks incompetent.
Report Gay Icon March 16, 2013 5:53 PM GMT
Utterly useless. On the worst of the ground all the way. Only got busy when the winner went by.

basilbrush asks: "How on earth did the Mangan get that beat in the last, she doesnt look unlucky now, she looks incompetent."

Well, if you looked at the race you'd see that her horse was tiring and was in the process of being overtaken by most of the field when it tripped/slipped and went head first into the dirt. To win from that position is quite difficult, so I guess that's how!
If you can't figure that out for yourself, then I would be fairly confident in saying that it is you that is probably incompetent.

bottlejobs & Gay Icon.... more absolutely nonsensical comments

To the last two posters.....

The race her mount slipped up in was NOT the last race, it was the 5.05.

Comments such as "caught kipping when the quickened" or "Utterly useless. On the worst of the ground all the way. Only got busy when the winner went by" were in relation to her ride in the 5.35.

OOPS! Thanks john92
Thought from earlier posts we were talking about the 17:05. The OP did say "hope she gets up from that" (and it was posted at 17:11!)
While the comments make more sense now, I still completely disagree with them.

IS THERE ONLY ME WHAT ssaw what realy happened the girl came over the last and swapped her whip hand she did it quite slowly and held it high in the horses eye line which spooked the horse and mke him jinx into the rail
Report stopper March 17, 2013 7:52 AM GMT
looking at it again she lost her balance , be fore the horse jinked which i belive gave the horse the wrong messages and helped cause the problem , partly jockey error , also unlucky
Report crackerpants March 17, 2013 9:12 AM GMT
I AGREE. stopper bit of both . not on same planet as nina , or katie walsh

She is going to be the best lady rider of all time.
She has everything balance strength and is tactically aware, all that can stop her is losing interest.

Cant believe some of the things people write i would like to see them go over a fence on a big powerful horse it would frighten the s**t out of them.

Cheltenham Festival winning jockeys in 2nd, 3rd and 4th......
Report Meadow X1 March 17, 2013 3:16 PM GMT
It can't be denied that at Cheltenham she gave her mount a great ride until the incident at the final fence. She looked confident and professional, she took the shortest way round and the horse looked settled and clearly had plenty left in the tank.
Now, in my opinion, there are a number of factors involved in the final fence incident.

1/ She should have brought her mount further away from the rail to avoid the horse being spooked by the crowd, if indeed that is what happened.

2/ The horse looked capable of going round again and was happy to head that way.

3/ If indeed, in transferring her whip at that time, disorientated her mount, that was a bad mistake.

She will learn through this and I hope she comes back even better.
