Ride analysis - in my humble opinion :
In the first furlong you could ask should Probert have done more to be where Chambles ended up, who got across him to be tracking on the inner, but that's debatable. After that Probert is stuck behind Chambles and it's then what goes on up the straight. The problem Probert had was he had to switch around Amosite, who does edge to her right slightly, and although I can see people saying Probert should have been more vigourous, he does get after her once he has clear run and Big Sylv keeps on but doesn't fly and is held by 0.5l at the finish. I think the race was lost in the first furlong, Big Sylv stays further (8.5f winner) and when she beat Amosite at Kempton over 7f, she was ridden prominently. Probert possibly should have done more to hold that prominent inside position in the opening furlong, and becoming relatively poorly positioned then having to switch around Amosite in the straight did for him. I didn't think there was anything 'dodgy' about it. |

george b compare the riding style from the last 2 runs-not the early positioning but from when the horse is in the clear
the question that needs answering is "why was he so weak today compared to Kempton?" |
|
By:
The way it was going and the fact that he was sitting still a furlong out I thought he knew he had a stone in hand and was just trying to win cleverly to avoid a big rise in the weights, that ride and betting patterns associated must be investigated.
