Part of the licence for 2013 requires all hill bookmakers to bet to standard each way terms and bidding starts at £200 for the majority of areas.

Restriction of Free Trade, next they will be telling the ice cream man to sell a large 99 for under £2.

I have instructed my solicitors to challenge this condition under EU law.

No jrw, just having abit of fun. I bet straight or win only, Epsom Hill would be last place id want to alter terms and have a dispute with a load of drunks.

However, my point about restriction of trade made be relevant, im assuming they have been advised that they can do this!

Thank god for Betfair for win only backers.  They will all be keeping the win odds short if forced to go normal terms.

Dont know how they can enforce this as their is no such thing as "standard place terms" thanks to the gambling commission

''Standard'' as in what's been practised in the High Street for decades !

Im not sure I want the racecourses telling me how to trade, what next? What's to stop them saying take a minimum bet of £1, lay up to £1000, dont bet over round of more than 120%, where could it end.

The gambling commission should deal with the ew cowboys not the racecourses.

Davy its the Gambling Commission that caused this in the first place so not much chance they will admit they got it wrong

Halcyon..... "What's been practised in the High Street for decades" is refusing to take e/w bets on the advertised terms where they "don't suit". Is that what people want ?

whether you agree or not with the each way saga ( and I think it is very shortsighted by the books to behave as they are ) Any bookmaker that allows the racecourse to dictate to them how they WILL bet should have their licence taken from them You just need to look at the mess you are in already and the racecourses haven't even started on culling you yet (that still has to come)never mind Health and Safety the big guns aren't being aired yet Look Out

After yesterday at Wetherby i'm totally in favour of this. In the opening race, a 16 runner h'cap, there wasn't a single bookmaker who went 1/4 the odds and at least 3 of them went 1/6 the odds. Needless to say i kept my money in my pocket!!

The standard terms for a 16 runner handicap are a 1/5 not the 1/4 that they used to be

at least two bookmakers bet 1/4 1234 in the opener at Wetherby, you just have to look in the right places  . . .
