catterick first race what would you back as a place and why

lay them for the same takeout and then lay the rest at a price below 11.0 and effectively you are backing the rest for a place or better still running well at some point

I like this kind of race, and backing one to place, I would take SHARIVARRY to make the frame and  split the the three aboveit

To be fair two of them have winning form, and one has potential, shariavarry has already got to within a respectable distance of abbeystorm, so if thats a strong form fancy to win then this one should place

Imperial vic has winning form and place form in a handicap, it likes to race prominent and that could stetch out the field, its a case of can it last out

The extra distance should help shanivarry as its won a coiple of points so should stay, sometimes when selecting for a place its best to have the one thats not going to get involved in the battle to win,

Trying to recoup some the money paid for it...

Its all about opinions, and horses can often make you foolish, I just like to back horses who have gotten to withinn a certain distance or shown some promise behind a shorter one in the betting

usually people expect the winner to win again, and it might, but the one whose finished behind is often better trated in the rematch

As I say the top two with form in the market could well go at it hammer and tong upfront, they may well burn the rest off, or they may well find it all too much at the buisness end

only time will tell
