Gone but never forgotten

A man so talented the world at his feet,
Made all on brindizi was never going to get beat.
His talents were there for the racing world to enjoy,
His natural ability and his tactical ploy.

Storming up the hill on that faithful day,
Campbell and brindizi showing the way,
As they crossed the line the pictures told the story,
An extraordinary jockey and his horse heading for glory.

The smile on his face the jubilant scenes of the crowd,
His family friends and a whole nation proud.
Spine tingling joy the emotions ran deep,
One of them special moments to treasure and keep.

A horse so tenacious,a jockey that wore his heart on his sleeve,
This shows anything can happen as long as you believe.
Credit lucinda and the team what a job they did do,
Conditioning this horse and what a jockey to.

A day that was dreamt became real in so many ways,
Cheltenham saluted on this most special of days.
It turned out to be the last Cheltenham festival trip for jockey and horse,
Bow out with a 2nd.. No finish 1st of course.

A special team now watching from the stars above,
A team re-united in heaven they fit like a hand to a glove.
A winner at Cheltenham that brought so much emotion and pleasure,
Keep smiling down Campbell gillies this is your moment to treasure.

Gone but never forgotten

R.I.P Campbell Gillies and also Brindizi Breeze

Thankyou and hope the 's' instead of a z fiasco doesn't take away what this poem is about,I've got so much more to give in terms of poems especially horse racing but trying to get noticed is very hard

Nice Poem, Well done Woody.

Good song too by Mark Boylan. Just been on ATR, never shuts the fuuk up the kid.

It's a beautiful song from young Mark and very well performed.

The lad is rapidly carving out a niche for himself as a singer/songwriter for the National Hunt scene. There is plenty of interest in this sort of thing too. It's a sport of drama and emotion which lends itself perfectly to ballads such as this. Long may he continue.

Very true and he is a superb singer/songwriter....exactly so much emotion with the sport well said and that's what a lot of people will never understand they think its just about a jockey and a horse which is completely wrong

I would really like to get this poem published and authorised and no not to make money or anything like that, this is something I have wanted to do for a long time and have been very humbled by the response I have received, this poem was for a young man that had the world at his feet and just wanted to bring back to life in words that brilliant day at Cheltenham for Campbell.I don't know where to start with getting this published etc but hope people will share this poem and back me in getting in trying to do so. Many thanks Michael
