Did you put in a lay @ 1.03 as I suggested the last time he fell at the last recently? Cool
Report jackhackett • January 17, 2013 1:17 PM GMT
Walsh is a **** everytime!!!!!
Report tomhunt • January 17, 2013 1:18 PM GMT
don't you trade out bilboConfused
Report bilbobaggins • January 17, 2013 1:20 PM GMT
Was rushing as just came in and completely forgot Wes - such an ****.
Report bilbobaggins • January 17, 2013 1:21 PM GMT
He is doing something wrong surely - asking them to do too much at the last instead of just putting the race to bed.
Report Wesdag • January 17, 2013 1:22 PM GMT
He seems to do it so often, there's got to be long time profit there Grin
Report Wesdag • January 17, 2013 1:23 PM GMT
time = term
Report tomhunt • January 17, 2013 1:23 PM GMT
He's brave that's all though on some he just needs to sit at the last, amount of time McCoy has flattened the last hurdle I have lost count, know who I would rather have.
Report richters • January 17, 2013 1:25 PM GMT
get it back on mikael and tarla imo
Report jackhackett • January 17, 2013 1:27 PM GMT
Should have put a lay in tbf, but then thought he was gonna win easy :-/
Report MJK • January 17, 2013 1:30 PM GMT
Chatting about this last hurdle/fence thing with fellow punters last week at the races. The amount of times he's done it over the last 2 seasons, not just fallers but making race losing mistakes, is very big for such a top jockey.
Report bilbobaggins • January 17, 2013 1:46 PM GMT
Put my lay in that time Wes just in case.

Think the problem with Walsh is he's hanging around with the wrong sort of people, getting terrible advice. If he logged on here and listened to what all the great horsemen have to say here he could be so much better
Report bilbobaggins • January 17, 2013 1:58 PM GMT
Totally agree john.
Report richters • January 17, 2013 2:00 PM GMT
gentleman john im sure ruby is quite aware of what is said on here and that is probably what makes him twice as arrogant imo.....
Report Arklearkle • January 17, 2013 2:04 PM GMT
John you have hit the nail on the head. When a horse falls at the last the pocket talkers come on and half say the jockey should have driven the horse into the last while the remainder say he should have let him pop it. Its pathetic. Of course Ruby and AP have or appear to have more fallers at the last because they are in contention more often there.
Report MJK • January 17, 2013 2:23 PM GMT
You're right John. I'm sure no one but professional footballers should be saying saying that Man Utd should change their penalty taker.
Report bilbobaggins • January 17, 2013 2:37 PM GMT
I don't think you've been watching much racing recently Arkle otherwise you'd be quite aware of the prevalence of Walsh going down when well clear and in control of the race.

It's nothing to do with the frequency of being in contention . It wasn't as if any of the races we're talking about were competitive  - he was well in command when coming down ( at least 6 times recently). So keep your 'pathetic' comments to yourself unless you know what you're talking about.

It's amazing how Ruby can do that , same thing every time , run the horse into the firmest part of the fence .  very strange
Report nc • January 17, 2013 2:51 PM GMT
he's a good jockey
well I used to think he was until this winter, when hes come down on oh so many odds on shots in Ireland
Report differentdrum • January 17, 2013 2:57 PM GMT
Whether it has anything to do with the falls I am not sure but he is riding pretty much the same race time and again - basically sitting and then trying to quicken up over the last two. Consequently, a horse is being asked for more often at a faster pace than throughout the race. Rarely seems to show any inclination to win a race 'in the country'. Get the impression he feels he is beyond criticism.
Report Mealiff • January 17, 2013 3:04 PM GMT
but he jumps into the actual side of the fence , firmest part ........Angry
Report gentlemanjohn • January 17, 2013 3:11 PM GMT
Ok cannot defend this anymore, Rubys coming off far too often and we need to help him sort it. To me its obvious he's sitting far too forward in the saddle, increasing the odds of finding the ejector seat. I remember as a kid having a bucking bronco horse at home and we had endless hours of fun. I always stayed on longest as I quickly worked out the best way of staying on was by leaning back and moving with the rhythm of the horse. Ruby is not doing this and is thus getting "bucked" off way too often.
Will be at the races this weekend and will tell him if i get the chance
Report manxy • January 17, 2013 3:12 PM GMT
wont make any differencce in the next on bc, as love rory will win whether walsh takes to the air or not
Report Arklearkle • January 17, 2013 3:12 PM GMT
Bilbo did you ever hear of free speech and besides I dont know what is pathetic about what I said. The difference between me and plenty on here is that I am not pocket talking. Why dont all the people on here who are complaining about Ruby just lay his mounts and stop moaning.
Report GODSEND • January 17, 2013 3:12 PM GMT
she will win this race
Report MJK • January 17, 2013 3:15 PM GMT
Good man John. But to save yourself time just tell him to copy everything Geraghty doesWink
Report bilbobaggins • January 17, 2013 3:22 PM GMT
You were the one that used the word 'pathetic' and it was completely uncalled for. You are the one that seems to want to prevent free speech . Why is criticising a jockey seen as pocket talking? That seems a particularly 'pathetic' and lazy stance to take. Are we not entitled to our opinions without 'pathetic' criticism from the likes of you.
Report desperatemunter • January 17, 2013 3:31 PM GMT
ha ha yes - i noticed that : bb's only use of the word pathetic was in direct quotation of arkles opinion of the way people will have opposite opinions of what a jockey should have done ; that they are 'pathetic', en masse i take him to mean (never mind that half may be right and the other half wrong : theyre all just 'pathetic').
Report Arklearkle • January 17, 2013 3:43 PM GMT
Bilbo when I used the word it was not in critizism of yourself but of the aftertimers who say he should have done the opposite. Desperate it does not necessarily mean that half of them are correct. Very often they are the same people saying one thing after one race and saying the opposite after another when it suits. I accept by the same token they may be correct everytime but it is very unlikely.
Report bilbobaggins • January 17, 2013 3:44 PM GMT
Thanks desperate - I thought the 'pocket taking' stance was from yesteryear. Everyone is entitled to their opinion without being accused of something like that. It's such an ignorant stance because anybody could express an opinion and then immediately be accused of 'pocket talking'. It really is 'pathetic'.
Report bilbobaggins • January 17, 2013 3:48 PM GMT
I really wasn't taking it personally Arkle - it just irritates me immensely when somebody comes up with the 'pocket talking' argument. Yes I'm sure it happens sometime but you should allow people to vent if they wish and if they have a genuine criticism they should not be routinely mocked.
Report Arklearkle • January 17, 2013 4:05 PM GMT
I accept where you are coming from Bilbo and I accept it can be annoying. Personally I had both horses in relatively small combination bets but in no way would I blame the jockey. I have been backing horses for an embarrassing number of years and often my first reaction is to blame the jockey when something goes wrong. However a few minutes later when I have cooled down I realise it is very seldom as simple as that. I also find it difficult to critisize jump jockeys when one considers that they risk life and limb day-in-day-out.
