By looking at the posts so far.......most people on here are incredibly ignorant, naive, envious and jealous. Many also thinks ageism is ok.

Firstly i am surprise he IS 72......thought he was a younger than that.

Secondly IMO he was the best presenter for racing for a long time and still is. Being pushed out is sad news. Other presenters are painfully boring to watch. All they do is stand there and talk into a microphone, they have no personality or character........just dead wood.

Then they can explain how, after investing significant amounts of money in their new product, how they don't feel he is appropriate to be involved in their coverage in this day and age.

I'm with Big Mac. Ageism in the modern workplace is real horrible sh*t. More power to home. Hope he wins. Glad he's proposed that some of the potential fees will be used to combat this dispicable workplace crime. 

Been working in global finance the last couple of years and I can tell you the sh*t I've encountered purely because someone is older and think they know better than me is a complete joke. Thankfully after cutting my teeth on here for so long on here I just let them dig their own graves. Worked a treat.

If I could actually prove that some of these ol' farts are actually making more than purely becaue of their age and length of service with the company even though I'm destroying them every day then I'd do the same exact thing as Big Mc. Pretty sure I'm right...just cant prove it.

People within racing don't want to be interviewed by Mcririck, could end up with no one to talk too meaning we would have to listen more to the expert airtime filler Graham Cunningham.

If you read the C4 website it seems that Big Mac, Down and Thomo are seriously missed already and more popular than many who have jobs.

it's a sad state of affairs when Mac believes he is the "face of racing".

It is true that the non-racing media often ask him for an opinion to express to the non-racing population.

But when you think they could ask Brough Scott, Peter O'Sullevan, Paul Bittar, Greg Wood, Richard Hoiles, Jim McGrath, Nick Luck.... to name but a few who would be considerably more enlightened on all things racing than Mac.

At least IMG have had the good sense to rectify matters.

Whenever there is a story in racing they always go to Mc Crirrick, I don't know why.Yes people will miss him at first but the new team are there now. Why can't he just accept it? Can't understand this at all. He was employed on a rolling contract not as a member of staff. He has no chance of winning and he has put paid to any chance of any future work with the channel if they had a change of heart.

All sports had their characters,but the shows move on,and changes don't alter the viewing of the sport.
Think of Arlott,Johnstone,Lowe,Mc.Claren etc.,all giants in their sports,but it carries on well without them,leaving us with fond memories.
  I am strongly in the well-rid camp.Big Mac still thinks he is clever when he uses tick tack to emphasise a price,something that disappeared from the courses years ago(Doc,Rocky,Mickey).
  Listening to him being interviewed on Radio2,he came over as a big-headed know-all,saying he had done this that and tother.He should be told that the game has drastically changed and is run along different lines from yesteryear.Besides which there are others around with a decent television persona that can do the job.
He was good for many years,and got fame ,and a great living from his work,and should now bow out gracefully,not in his aggressive manner,with lawsuits.

I don't hate the guy! In fact I found him mildly amusing when I first got into the game as a 16 year old in the mid 90s. But, the last few years he's become a flustered old man and was making too many mistakes. He was probably not helped by having that crow Tanya on his shoulder. Her voice is like someone scrapping their nails down a blackboard and I think we'd all make mistakes with her wittering on at our sides. She doesn't bring anything to the table and I find the whole person in the betting ring completely outdated. What purpose does it serve to go on about horses being backed or not, hours before the race in question? The ones being backed tend to be the ones put up by Tom Segal or the horse has rattled off 3 wins on the spin without coming off the bridle and the drifters tend to be horses who are trying a new trip, surface or coming back from a long absence. All you need is to keep the betting market (exchange & bookie) up at the side of the screen for the few minutes up to each race start and you can make your own minds up on what's off and not off. Or better still have a changing plus & minus percentage figure by each runners price from when the market first opened.

Don't know if this is relevant or not but if Big Mac has a case why didn't Arlene Phillips have one against the BBC when she was jocked off Strictly for someone who knew nothing about dancing?

If he is using something like TUPE to argue his case, it will be the ultimate in hypocrisy as he would normally be railing against what he would perceive as an anti-free-market concept.

His claim will stand or fall by the terms of his employment contract and the nature of his "dismissal". It is very likely that the outcome will have little to do with how "good" (or otherwise) he was at his job.

For me, I am totally indifferent to the outcome, but I wish him every success in his continued efforts in exposing his irrelevance and incompetence.

If he was engaged under a service contract he wouldn't be an employee - most celebrities (sic) signed them to avoid PAYE - his claim will fail at the first hurdle

To succeed in a discrimination claim you have to show future loss. At 72 what is your future loss?
There is no such thing as exemplary damages in a case like this for which he is claiming 2.5M, if successful in his discrimination claim an award can be made for injury to feelings, most of these awards are for a few thousand pounds (Source E Lang employment lawyer Bird & Bird  Todays RP)
