Reminded of this seeing Mottershead (lovely country set jacket by the way) this morning. Is there a more pointless piece of back slapping given that there are probably only about five or six candidates every year and they are usually the same ones given the obvious lack of turnover amongst racing journalists.

You cant please everyone.....he will know that. Some like him, some dont, for me i think he is slightly over confident but then i suppose once you win that award it probably gives you a bit of a boost.

Not unlikeable, and seems nice enough but you have to have pretty strong opinions in the line of work he is in.

IMO.

journalist  [jur-nl-ist]
Part of Speech:    noun
Definition: person who writes about factual events for a living.

These aresholes don't write about factual events.

They write O Level English (Fail) for a living and avoid facts at all times. Or fail to highlight pertinent facts.

Next year there's a gravy-train journalists of the year award and they've managed to narrow down the final list to 3000 - With a table for 50 representing the Morning Line.

Only a paper sponsored by bookies would employ them. Any independent will baulk at their service even for free.

My fav newspaper tv show was Lou Grant; Rossi was my fav, and Billie. They were a right pair.

The Racing Post should be renamed the Bookie Paper. Everything it does is bookie specific and benefit. The advertised GambleAware any time of the day or night to remind bettors they are open.

They promoted fobts in the shops and online, but fobt is now toxic and blamed almost entirely for the increase in problem gambling and addiction. Now, the bookies are promoting 'build your odds' on football by giving free bets and enhanced odds on for predictions of which are near impossible to get correct eg time of 1st throw-in/corner; time of 1st goal/team/scorer; goals in 1st/2nd half; total goals; yellow/red card; etc. This is another version of football fobt with a return very unlikely, but incremental stakes eg each combination = 1x original stake; 10 possible outcomes = 10x original stake.

A ban on betting advertising on terrestrial tv (including racing programmes), laptop and esp mobile is necessary. It's just a matter of time 'Build your odds' will become the next fobt.

It's a walkover imo: Kevin Blake.

Kevin Blake will eat those in the Bookies Paper for breakfast without a hiccup. The contents and journalism of the Bookies Paper are akin to constipation on a difficult day ie uncomfortable to read and full of sh1t.
