Report adge December 16, 2012 3:23 PM GMT
yes , bangor started at 11.00 a.m, don't know about warwick , but used to go to the hereford conservative club to watch the first 75 minutes of the cup final before dashing to the course.
always a good crowd from wales there
Report silvercoat December 16, 2012 3:36 PM GMT
I used to go there to watch the Grand National. On the big screen.
Report wasnot December 16, 2012 3:39 PM GMT
Our old allocated pitch in the silver ring was on the bank, facing the track, while the main line was facing away from the track in front of the little stand.  I've never been when there's been any people there tbh.

I went August 1966 or 67, Red Dove won that day.
Report Dr Crippen December 16, 2012 4:08 PM GMT
I was always worried that the horses would slip on the camber going round the parade ring.

No big screen but I watched Last Suspect win the Grand National there ridden by Hywel Davies in 1985.

adge wil we retire from bookmaking or will it retire us?ive hardly been out for weeks(never intended to this winter, have to pick and chose) but ill go to plumpers tomorrow and folkestone wed on the premise sometimes week before crimbo can be workable.i looked at that card at cheltenham yesterday ,overall about 3 4 races you wouldnt want to bet on ad the crowd haviing to pay thru the nose to see 2 or 3 long odds on chances potter round.
Report adge December 16, 2012 4:58 PM GMT
i would leave out plumpton as well. card not worth going for.
it does make us all think before leaving the house . i'm not able to go on holiday this winter but i will still only attend a maximum of six days from now to cheltenham week in march
Report unbiased December 16, 2012 5:02 PM GMT
I thought bookmakers were supposed to be in the West Indies for winter.Oh sorry,I forgot, that was in the good old days.Bronzed faces in the ring come the start of the flat.

d-told you that place is a waste of time. The only decent meeting they have on the jumps is the Easter Saturday one otherwise unless you are betting in the first two or three it's useless & there isn't a decent pitch on the rails.

Dave
The ground down the far end(towards the railway line)was still waterlogged.Chris Dennis(inspector of the course)said on Thursday it was unraceable in that area, they could have moved onto slightly better ground but it also would have been unraceable after a couple of races.Sensible decision by all concerned to call it off.

yes , the harder i work at it the luckier i seem to get.
the interesting stat is that andy murray did nothing whatever to attrect votes and got third, so the public will vote for him.
jess may have lost only narrowly because sue barker couldn't keep it quiet that she gets married in the new year
.
get the market up for 2013

Sorry to jump on the thread but I wonder if adge or jimnast could advise me.
Wincanton silver ring only open boxing day and Kempton silver ring only open
26th & 27th.
Is it the full 5x marketing fee for both on top of your badge fee and if so will
Kempton be 5x £15 or 5x £10.
Report democrat December 17, 2012 4:38 PM GMT
Are you interested in Butts pick 1 adge ? Probably not since you would have to get there on time ! Sad
Report jimnast December 17, 2012 4:57 PM GMT
hello unders and overs hope your well and doing better than your football team.

re kempton silver i was told it would be twice the entry for your marketing fee,so therefor i should think wincanton would be just once, really though the agt should be posting these things on there site to avoid any uncertainty.
Report overs and unders December 17, 2012 5:24 PM GMT
Thanks jimnast.
I think that makes Kempton £150 for the badge and Wincanton £70.
Where are you heading to boxing day?

As for Arsenal I have opted for a long drive up to Wigan on Saturday
to get out of christmas shopping with the missus and I am starting to
think I would of been better off following her round westfield.
Report jimnast December 17, 2012 5:45 PM GMT
almost certain to go to fontwell, with wincanton 2nd choice ,that however was the case last year and i ended up at kempton, fontwell would have to be very small fields for me to go elsewhere.looking at your two choices i should think wincanton would be different class unless the public think its closed all the time now.
Report overs and unders December 17, 2012 7:25 PM GMT
Wincanton was not very good last year but I find Kempton hard work.
I guess I would choose Kempton if they had runners but that is never the case.

what's your pitch worth ?
Report red lorry~ yellow lorry December 18, 2012 9:19 AM GMT
question 4 our well travelled jimnast here

how many other tracks in the country have FOUR enclosures open all the time

ponte will surely reduce their 4 enclosures down to three enclosures in the next couple of years and that is bound to affect their pick values Confused
Report red lorry~ yellow lorry December 18, 2012 6:15 PM GMT
jimny where r u ?
Report democrat December 18, 2012 6:40 PM GMT
So which Ponte ring is your money on to close rlyl. As for the value of Butts no. 1 adge - where did you get those figures from ? I only ended up in the Ring as a result of some chap bidding for me at an auction who wouldn't stop putting his hand up !! Cant remember his name but he has a lot to answer for !!!!! AngryWink

Report democrat December 19, 2012 1:40 PM GMT
And your opinion was adge ? I hope it wasn't affected by you having a vested interest !!!
Report adge December 19, 2012 2:29 PM GMT
i said i valued mine at 10k but realistically would not expect more than 7k or 8k if i tried to sell
number one , probably worth half as much again and anyone who had to bet next door to robin only worth half as much accordingly.
i did add that it was worth considerably more than the one currently for sale in tatts
do you agree
Report IanP December 19, 2012 3:08 PM GMT
Goodwood also has four rings inc Trundle Hill
Report democrat December 19, 2012 3:19 PM GMT
I have no idea adge. You are in the best position to give a view being able to see things both from a Tatts and Butts point of view. What I would say is that Butts pitches do not come up for sale very often and therefore might be considered to be at a justifiable premium.
Report red lorry~ yellow lorry December 19, 2012 5:42 PM GMT
