With concert goers yes.  Kaiser Chiefs will sell thousands of tickets.  Not necessarily punters.  The Fri night has been shockingly bad business in tatts the last 2 years though.

Why bother Adge?

Why dont you all just give it a miss.........and I mean ALL? If you are only going to earn pennies,if at all.........get together and boycott the place.......and the rest of the Concert Courses?

Newbury racecourse were running at a loss before concerts were introduced. It's still a scandalous price to be charging bookmakers though. Agreed, you should boycott one meeting to highlight your plight. It must be a very small percentage of the extra turnout that are interested in having a bet anyway.

It would be better if half the courses shut down and the others doubled their meetings. Sacrilege to some, but maybe best in the long run.

adge 22.12 , i believe it to be 8x£38 +£38 per staff member entrance . +£20 agt +£11 exante + fuel + wages = a blessed fortune !!in my case approx £550 exes before a bet is struck hence even off a decent pick i will only be attending royal ascot and goodwood fridays ! in all honesty the whole situation is truly laughable !!!

ribero1.the bookmakers can only buy tickets for their staff at discounted prices not for themselves in advance ! in my view we are being discriminated against we are the only people in the world who can>t buy tickets or metal badges nxt year

Ed - can't buy metal badges ? You all share the same one don't you ... nudge nudge wink wink !!

as flash and ian say you must think long and hard about the viability in attending.
the attendance only go for the concert. horse racing punters at £38 is a big fat ZERO
race one you take arround £100 , race two and three £200 to £250 , race four and five £400 to £500 and race six is decent business.
and that is only in good pitches. YOU SIMPLY CANNOT MAKE IT PAY.
the only book who should consider attending is democrat as his expenses are less than everyone else owing to him living on the doorstep

Yes flash but in most cases doesn't the bookie go in on the badge, never had a problem getting 3 day badges for the staff at york although having been a member there for 40 years (obviously started as a junior!) i keep hearing rumours they may take them off bookies which actually would make me better off as i never go in the members now i'm on the other side of the fence.

Just to add on the discrimination subject i think apg approached the OFT about it and they didn't want to know, the bottom line is some courses are considerably more bookmaker friendly than others, edward gilespie being the best i have come across.

probably not enough in it for them APG,i'm fairly ambivalent about membership at tracks because let's face it plenty abused it in the past and no doubt would continue to do so if they got the chance, maybe now we are supposed to be building bridges with tracks they could do a seperate bookies membership which would suit both parties?
