the bookmakers are glad he gave up
|

By:
who said he gave up.
i think if he is healthy, he is doing his ratings privately, so he gets some value out of them, he lost that by sharing. or someone/group are paying more than he raised publicly for charity. i used his site from around 2001, i got the impression that adrian himself was/is a cancer sufferer, one of the slow burner strains/types of cancer, he always replied to emails etc, always repaired the database when you noticed errors in the data etc etc, anyway if your still with us adrian lad, be lucky. |
|
By:
what i mean is, his site had a substantial cash value, someone as committed to raising funds for charity would have raised that value and donated it, thats why i think he either died shortly after or took them private.

agree manxy
it was very good and alot of punters who cant/dont study form use to follow his top rated when well clear ,always had ratings everyday - not a scam/bull ratings site seemed 100% genuine. |

After more than 12 years of operation, I have decided to close the adrianmassey horse racing website. The Forum will live on, run by the same team as now, but everything else will soon end. It is likely that the last day will be Sat 19th March. I hope that you have found the site interesting and useful. I have enjoyed maintaining the site. I have met many wonderful people as a result of running the site. I would like to thank all of the people who have helped me to keep the site going for so long. However, everything comes to an end eventually. I nearly closed the site in 2002, so there has already been a lot of 'extra time'. There are many reasons behind my decision to close the site. I am not going to list them all here. Suffice to say that changes to my personal circumstances has been a major reason. I wish all of the site's users a happy and prosperous future. Adrian Massey |

yes it was.
and as a long time user yourself, you will know he stopped developing the site, several years before he stopped it auto updating. another sad tick in the cancer box to me sadly, i really hope i am wrong tho. |

By:
Adrain Massey was/is a very good programmer and applied a fair amount of form/runner/race study
in his work, I myself have used his site and still do to test out theories about certain form/runner/race profiles if applicable to his filtering and its a wonderful and revealing instrument. |
|
By:
Perhaps he supllies data privatly now though he did refer
to not being interested in profit though this doesnt discount the theory that he is still enjoying some income from his work. ![]() |

he supplied his 'data' before the race

My own view is that first the forum, then Maria, didn't really help.
Many said they found his ratings useful and several said they were able to make them pay. Then, others, on the forum, started putting up threads that seemed to go totally against the ratings when it came to selections. As ever, the forum could get nasty and I very much doubt that AM enjoyed that sort of thing. |
|
By:
A small number of gamblers spoil it for the rest as no matter how good
the ratings or advice are they will always get in trouble via over expectation and over staking. Perhaps this small public sector that can just about use a keyboard on a forum caused him to quit updating the site, good point Sean Rua. |

By:
she ruined his forum, truth is, she is utterly clueless, and at the time i had 20 years of punting mistakes behind me, listening/reading her twitterings, unable to respond, because to correct her was akin to attempted rape, i gave up on the place, there was however several decent there.

decent folks there.

it seems as though another excellent ratings service is also about to dissappear from circulation. I doubt many on here have heard of Racing Research but it's up for sale and there's a possibility that it's about to be bought out by a big pro-punter and made private. I've been using these ratings for the past 10 years and won't be able to bet without them, fingers crossed it doesn't happen!
|
|
By:
I've never heard of it before the bloob but I'll pay it a visit
|

One noticeable thing that happened to Adrian's ratings was that they became less profitable in recent years. His own charts show this quite clearly.
I wonder if that was a factor? Agree wholeheartedly with the comments about the 'inner sanctum' forum set. |
|
By:
There were expanded ratings available to adrians ''friends'', I'm sure some dialogue took place between Adrian and these friends exploring the possibilty of keeping the database going privately in some way.
|
|
By:
they were not for friends, they were for donators, it was an un-written rule, you donated, adrian gave yu access to save and auto-run system selection criteria selections, and the full ratings for all meetings, i never bothered with his ratings.
|
|
By:
Not everyone who donated got access from what I understand, it was up to Adrian. Many who did have access posted on his forum and seem to have migrated to the new one, it was these who I was referring to as friends...

You could get the extras by editing the webpage. I did it years ago, got extra years and the irish courses etc. I wouldn't be surprised if that still works now.

@the bloob, where did you hear this about RR?

Pretty sure "Sagitario" and even the heinous "Maria" and/or her "rich, share-dealing dad"
were something to do with AM. Whatever about it, I don't suppose it matters much in the long run. Folk, who "know about these things", tell me that many of these racing set-ups are not quite as they appear to the ordinary punter. |

getoutyoustink
I found out about them about 10 years ago from a mate that worked in the racing media at the time and he knew the guy that did the ratings. They're racing's best kept secret in my opinion, used by a few of the well know Pro Punters and even a major high street bookie for odds compiling |

Race prediction that is accurate is really just "data property" and if its available to the masses
would defect the object of the prediction program as the effect to the market would dilute any small advantage gained in the case of A.M. surveying techniques to find value on an average or refined basis and in fact through the passage of time the UK Horse racing markets are becoming more accurate despite the traditional odds compilation and the general punting publics historical obsession with betting on the short end of the market or seriously under-priced tags like Trainers, jocks and horses... |
|
By:
The only real worth to me of the A.M. site in its current guise minus the original
ratings provided that I have no idea of yearly ROI% to quote of, is the over-riding messages gained via the testing of well known factors in that.... It really does not pay to look at the same race and runner properties that the rest of the betting world "reverberates"... |

Your 'opinion' is correct, moreover where did you here JW was selling up, is this true? 25 yrs myself |

I used the massey site a long time ago. it was particularly useful for testing ideas and hunches because it had a data query thing you could play around with. as for the pure ratings the PL data showed that market efficiency eventually destroyed the substantial edge it had originally (the BSP-SP differential also tightened markedly on top rates).
I think that he rejigged his program at one point to try to address this, but I think that rather missed the important fact, that loads of people were looking and would squash whatever came out on top. |

Although i cant say I knew of his site before this year, what you say sugarfoot makes great sense plus
the effect of betting exchanges that increase the dynamic flow of greater intelligent betting that is suppressed on the high street to maintain its in-efficient cellular design with the need to control on course betting has meant that that prices are more realistic to chance than the controlling effect of organized betting rags and odds compilers that are fed by the Industry. With the advent of FOBT machines the high street firms are now able to close the back door almost completely on serious betting unable to compete with exchanges but ironically now relying on exchanges to know what is actually being bet on as there doors are effectively closed to horse racing which also benefits its grand escape plan of avoiding any reasonable levy payment by declaring lowered turn over. Its a good job the Industry doesn't have to work for a living as it already owes far to much to society and its disowned surrogate parents the sports and racing businesses. |
