yes they took over the credit business when demmy retired and I believe many of the staff went with them but since then there dealings are rather????
I certainly know of long standing clients of Demmy remain unpaid by this outfit.

Stay well clear, used to bet with Demmy only had a couple of small bets with them since better took over. Demmy used to price match the big firms and would take a fair size bet.

swerve them, matched prices & BOG as well? If an offer sounds too good to be true, then it probably is

Dont get involved with this company,a total waste of time and it took me weeks to get paid out after numerous phone calls,like many others a joke firm!!!

dont put this outfit along side demmy of manchester,selwyn was 100 % no chance whatsoever they would not have paid ,gus by the way died many many years ago,it was his son selwyn who retired as i say he has nothing to do with best bet.

thanks jimnast - when demmy became bestbet it was all a bit unclear as to what had happened - clearly not got the level of financial backing that demmy had.
Sounds like there are plenty of people not getting paid on time or at all.

After reading this thread I was talking to my local indy today, I was asking if he ever got paid out by the mob from Wigan, he said Ronnie I been owed money for over 6 months and he even showed me the kite that hit the roof, he also said have a look at this and showed me a bookmakers mag article (not betview) that had a piece about the firm and how well they were doing, I asked him how are they still trading and what are the gambling commission doing about it, after he stopped ROTFL he said what do you think Ronnie NOTHING!!

Thanks ronnie - that doesn't surprise me. Doesn't help the unsuspecting punter though. Not getting on is bad enough but not getting paid is far more galling.

Does anyone know if Demmy (Best Bet) have ceased trading as their phone numbers have all stopped working...0800 917 8080 & 01942 242568 & even the fax number 01942 246620 don't seem to work for me.

I rang the BT operator, and all they could tell me was there was some work happening on the lines, but I doubt that would be the case on a Sat afternoon when it would cost the firm too much money in missed calls surely?

I'm not owed money, and had a large winning ante-post bet fully paid in late December 2012, but I've placed a new ante-post bet and want to know if it's still "live" ??

As of today, I can answer my own question for the benefit of anyone reading this.

I had a letter today in the post from Star Sports confirming that Best Bet Bookmakers have indeed gone bust a couple of weeks ago, and that they have taken on all the accounts and positive/negative balances of all the clients.

I can continue to use Star Sports with my old account number & the same 0800 number from Bet Bet which has now been reactivated and forwards to them.

All ante-post bets (including the one I struck a couple of months ago) are void.

I had a account with star sports a losing account and got closed down be carefull will not take long to close accounts  took them about 1 month

Sure the guy who runs it was on c4 saying he lost 200k in the first yesterday

Laying under the odds - have you ever seen an advertised price offered by them....

Why would you phone them up in 2013 to be offered a price which they could trade out of ....

Never seen anything by them just remember the name from when he was on, also sure he had a write up in the sun
