J S Moore stated that the horse is late maturing and is suited by an all weather surface. J Spencer was banned for 2 days for a whip ban.
I looked at its form at Wolverhampton, didn't look too hot then on the all weather. Must be pure coincidence it was heavily punted today then and jockey got a whip ban. Lucky it was mature today then.
Finished 2.5 lengths in from of Quest for More who finished close up 4th in the Maiden won by the 1/3 fav and off a mark of 60 in a crapp race dont know what all the fuss is about.

well ok not most but about 5 had 4-5 runs and looked regressive the 2 that went clear, and were backed had some of the best "form" if you can call it that and the other one was the Always Trying horse - enough said.

If the trainer says the horse likes the all weather, it begs the question why he ran on soft ground at Newbury then? Still I'm sure the stewards will sort that out.

the stewards don't sort jacks*** out, they never do. Answer this question. How many jockeys get fined/banned for failing to achieve the best possible placing on their mount each year on the Flat? I'd be surprised if it was 20 or over.

To be fair to both sides of this debate not really a race to go for a touch in to be fair, horse improved massively and market knew but lot of others fancied by the yard/punted to be fair.

I as a novice can only say that the horse made up a lot of ground in relation to the rest of the horses in the last furlong and appeared to my untrained eyes as a lot better than a 60 rated handicapper.

a trainer who cant "play the game" wont be a trainer for long. a punter who doesnt understand the game wont be a punter for long. if i had a horse incapable of winning a maiden ie a future handicapper im not sure id like it to be running prominently with optimum conditions on its first 3 runs and ridden vigorously to finish as cose up as possible

It doesnt make much sense tbh MV,he was under a drive before 2f out and hung left and right.Simply a case of the trainer getting it handicapped to win a poor race.

Rev, I concur Madvlad, yep, looked better than a 60 horse to me as well, still looked inexperienced and made up a deal of ground from rear in a race where other could not. Both the first 2 will be of interest again in handicaps.

The time was over 4 seconds above standard...........hardly any reason to suspect anything is going to be much better than a low grade handicapper even given the obvious greenness of the winner and the weight of money for the 2nd.Little better than a Seller imo.

When it ran at wolves spencer realized it was running on strongly and eased it, was still only beaten 8ls in a decent time plus that race tonight was diabolical.I never even looked at the race but after seeing that replay hardly surprising it won a dire race.

Rubbish race - fav never run on the AW previously not convinced it would need t ohave improved to win this. If The Giggilo is right (wich he usually is) about the time of the previous run then no big surprise. Move on no story here

When i say good time i'm taking into account the spencer horse was probably 3/4ls better than that run at wolves and runninjg off 60 there were 3/4 runners infront of him that he was probably better than and they were all rated between 66-72.Just ashame i never looked at it!!

God help Celtic Son if the Pond House string 'come to hand' in the next few days .... he may spontaneously combust, such will be his apoplectic levels of seethage (sad face).

You count yourself as a bunch of professional punters and I'm not? So let's get this right, even though the horse had shown very little promise in three previous maidens, and there was nothing new about what he did last night apart from it being a handicap, you all 'knew' he could win? This is how professional punters bet is it?
The added reason last night Jamie Spencer came up with after the race was that the horse didn't like the lights at Wolverhampton. I could be wrong, but I thought that race last night was run under lights, presumably last night's lights were special types of lights were they? If he 'prefers the aw' why was he eased at Wolverhampton in the final stages? Perhaps if we could have seen him running on like he did at Kempton up the home straight, we'd have had some clue of what he could have done.

Horses should not be allowed to run in a handicap until they have placed in a maiden. That would cut out this nonsense. I see there's another at Kempton tonight in the 7:25. Derwentwater. 3 times held up in rear showed nothing at long odds now best price 11/4. Why the stewards bother asking the trainers for an explanation of the 'apparent' improvement in form is beyond me. Reasons given can be anything from equipment changes, surface, going right instaed of left handed, suddenly come to life in the mornings, ridden differently etc. My favourite is 'the trainer had no explanation'! So the trainer doesn't even have to offer an explanation. What a joke handicap races are.

thats nonsense. if youve shelled out tens of thousands, or more likely in excess of 100k and are paying lofty annual fees then you deserve to win. some horses arent good enough to get placed in any maiden. what then? is the owner expected to keep paying a fortune while he watches his horse accumulate duck eggs and no prize money? do you think that would attract owners?

its quite simple really, let all horses carry a standard weight.
classes/bands should be defined by prize money, and a horses starting class/band should be defined by its purchase price/value, horses cannot run in classes/bands above its current band until it wins, and progresses up the prize money bands/levels.

CS, betting in races like that is all about educated guesswork. If you bet on the horses with the best form in 0-60 nurseries containing unexposed types you will generally lose imo.
