He should appeal, citing human rights issues, those morons at the bha

would be employed seeking out the miscreants who on a daily basis are stopping horses

not a poor sod who by trying his best to achieve a best possible placing larrups a horse

more than the permitted limit.

Same with everythin else in racin, the small guy will always be slaughtered where the big guy will be let go away about his business with no fear of repercussions whether it b trainers or jockeys

3 MONTHS TO A YOUNG LAD TRYING TO MAKE A LIVING IS DRACONIAN 1 MONTH SHOULD BE PLENTY.

An even bigger joke to me than the ban is the Oneday of remedial training as they put it. The ban should be for a week and for the whole of that period he should attend a training school in order to try and rectify his faults and therefore reduce the chances of this happening time and time again.
Report wee eck October 18, 2012 12:15 PM BST
uptheboro, that would be eminently sensible so obviously the BHA wont go down that road.
Report Marcce October 18, 2012 12:32 PM BST
He's been on remedial training before with Mick Fitzgerald I believe. And he said that Fitzgerald was delighted with him at the end of it.

The ban is too long without a doubt but not really sure how much remedial training it needs to get someone to count properly.

Joke! And this just shows what morons there is in charge of racing. Common sense seems to be their greatest enemy. How about they start looking at those who don't try hard enough? Keep an eye on the 2 AW meetings today to see some non triers. I can name you plenty of jockeys that deserve 3 month bans for  NOT trying that are riding today. Like I say, JOKE!

I don't think I'll come back from ban - Fox

BY GRAHAM GREEN 4:14PM 18 OCT 2012

KIEREN FOX on Thursday admitted his riding career was all but over after being hit with a mammoth three-month ban, the harshest punishment imposed by the BHA since the whip rules were last revised in March.

"To be honest, I don't think I'll come back from this," said the shell-shocked rider after emerging from the inquiry. "Three months out when you are struggling anyway is hard. I was probably getting one ride maybe a week if I'm lucky and now with this, you think to yourself what is the point. I could go and stack shelves in Morrisons for more money."

When found to have struck his unplaced mount, Salient, 13 times in a 1m handicap at Brighton on October 9, Fox became the first jockey to have committed four whip offences meriting a penalty of seven days or more within a six-month period.
The disciplinary panel could have sanctioned a six-month suspension, but although not going that far, Fox, who had received training from Mick Fitzgerald since his last whip ban at Ascot in July, still felt aggrieved.

The 23-year-old said: "I am just trying to do well for the people I'm riding for, and to try and get more rides, and I get penalised for it. I know the rules are in place for a reason, but they are not being followed properly. There are jockeys out there hitting horses 10, 11 and 12 times, and they are just getting a two-day suspension. It's a joke."

Fox, who has ridden out his claim, but remains an apprentice, has mustered 104 winners since 2007, but with only a dozen coming this season and opportunities increasingly elusive, he was already contemplating whether he still had a future in the sport.

Fox says he has no booked rides before the start of his ban which, although it could prove academic, begins next Friday, October 26. The panel also ordered him to have a day's remedial whip training.

Mischief
Report gbtp October 18, 2012 5:52 PM BST
This has got to be the most extreme, unfair, and totally unnecessary punishment ever handed out to a sportsman. I would like to see the big boys, Dettori, Hughes,Moore, et al come out in support of this young fella. Fox should be punished for his over-use of the whip, but not like this.
Report wee eck October 18, 2012 6:00 PM BST
gbtp, you are a gentleman, this punishment is draconian and in some way us lot on

here must find someone who can champion the Lad's cause.  I am totally and utterly

against kangeroo courts and star chambers.  The lad has transgressed and rightly

should be punished, but the punishment MUST fit the crime.
