I agree Big Issue with your comments  , but what next a maximum stake of £10 to antone who wants to take a morning or advertised price ..... personally I'd love to see an end to the Pricewise feature - it has made things 100 times worse for the genuine punter to get on...... no offence intended though to Tom.

I hear what you are saying TU, could be thin end of the wedge but what can you get on any horse in these shops these days, £50 max, rest at SP seems to be the norm from comments on here. Yes, Tom a good tipper I have no doubt but the outrageous effect on the market he causes (rightly or wrongly) is ridiculous. It's not like they then push all the rest out to correct the market is it, just shorten his and increase the over-round margin?

Re PW restrictions - Seagull himself said that if punters could get a couple of £25 EW bets on his selections at best or near best price that is fair enough.  I'd say that is damn near impossible now without having to visit half a dozen shops or having numerous bookmaker accounts.

The days of this misleading and let's face it disingenuous column must surely be numbered (echo sentiments above, no disrespect to Seagull)...

And what do most of PW followers do with their winnings (when there are any)? I guess they have a few beers in the boozer next door to the bookies and then lose it and more on the last few races of the day. So its probably the Arbers that cause the most damage. Also, on losing streaks most punters will be betting e/w at the prices and losing double, as they cant just have a win bet on the 12/1+ shots I would guess in most cases.

I am ptl in both billys shops in my town , saturday the usual call went in for my £25 on montaser at the price and to my shock i was offered £10 , this is the first time they have ever offered me that amount , so the opening thread must be correct. This £10 buisness seems to be industry standard now except for ladcrokes who lay nothing in their shops. The trip out is not worth the hassle anymore.

Why not take horserace betting off these guys and have a Tote/Betfair monoploy with a bigger % going to racing. These firms were more than happy to take bigger bets on P/W horses a few years ago, I could regularly get £100 on and that was only 7 years ago. It is not as if Segal has had a fantastic season.

Because they are both spineless and stupid I guess, never mind his long losing streaks, where they would have made a fortune and maybe even put some Sheep off as they unloaded bundles for no return. It's the filthy shop arbers that have caused this problem make no mistake, glopping away like the onanists they are to make a guaranteed £20/30 a trade if they are lucky. It's not the £10/20 man in the street casual punter's fault. Also the High Street shops are scared silly to have any kind of liability or lop-sided book as where do they lay-off these days? With the on-course betfair skimmers? No, they much prefer their own regular skim of the FOBT.

billy restricked me last sunday to a tenner per horse but had a 10/1 winner
their p/w prices have been best for a few weeks and they are not allowed to lose

Ladbrokes machines profit now averages £937 per machine per week according to figures released this morning with takings up 11.5% ; sadly I fear they will fall in line with other £10 merchants for taking prices - though it is a waste of time with advertised stuff as the odds are more often changed before the majority of shops open at 9.00am

Hills following jokes now with the £10 policy and they start this policy on the biggest weekend of racing in the UK at Ascot on champions day. Maybe they are seeing the pricewise selections as like there priority prices in that you can only have £10 on the selection. Wonder how much they will take on Frankel at the weekend? The problem now with bookies in the UK is why do they need to take a bet now as they have the FOBTs which guarenteed a large profit. I would love for the FOBTs to be banned or restricted to £2 per spin and then lets see how the bookies do.

A point oft-made on other threads, and more true by the day. Also, GandalfTheGrey has asserted on the forum that in Ireland, lumpy bets are accepted as the norm. Why the difference? No FOBTs in RoI, that's why. The poster who suggested earlier that racing should be taken from the big books has a point. If they won't indulge the primary reason for their being licensed, then stuff them.

i was refused an ante post bet by boyles and pp, only around 50 quid on the king george, one allowed me a tenner at sp, that to me was the end of bookmakers, refusing ante post, i promptly closed my accts with them , and they had the cheek to ask, why do you want to close your acct sir
