All the betfair sp's are bizzre on this race. Not reflective of what the horse was trading at seconds before the off! Scandal.

12-1 Industry/PMU. Sort it out BF.

By:
4.01 place sp.

By:

By:
Aga followers will be taking the bf SP again.
Betfair--the company where you need a PhD to get a price that isn't 600% worse that freely available w/ the conventional bookmakers! |
By:
SP to place was $4.01
By:
saw some really odd betting at the off, two or three particularly wild including the winner
By:
what do u expect of a company who take up to 60% of peoples winnings just for winning.
By:
what was it in euros?
By:
is this a software error?

There has clearly been some sort of technical issue. Hopefully someone will flag this up?

Technical issue

I will write to BF to ask how this SP was calculated, I will post the reply on this thread
By:
Unlike other bookmakers’ Starting Price, the Betfair Starting Price will be determined by balancing bets from customers who want to back and lay, so because it’s other customers placing the bets and because there is no margin for profit built in, you are far more likely to have better odds than the bookies’ SP.
The Betfair Starting Price will be calculated exactly to ensure the fairest and most transparent odds possible for both backers and layers. The Betfair Starting Price does not need to account for a profit margin but instead is calculated at the start of an event by looking at the relationship between the amounts of money requested at SP by opposing customers and by looking at unmatched Exchange bets. |
By:
There was clearly a 'Comply Or Die' issue here.
By:
Is it not French punters lumping thousands on runners at SP in a thin market?
The bf sp is determined within the sub-market for individual runners. It doesn't work if they aren't full-book layers sitting under fair prices across the race. |
By:
Well said Brother Mouzone. For lesser-fancied runners in France, you need to get out b/f the off.
By:
Where do you find the BFSP returns for Longchamp, please?
By:
If there are problems with returning 'fair and reasonable' bfsp's then they shouldn't be offered for these races. The technicalities of how these prices are generated are irrelevant.
By:
none of the other horses were way out of line with industry prices,so the bf sp must be wrong
By:
It's annoying that no one from Betfair (who will be aware that there is a problem) ever just acknowledge that there was a mistake and that they are investigating.
By:
I've been clicking the graph at Longchamp before the market has settled George, Longchamp isn't on the Timeform results.
By:
Shambles!
Don't suppose you noticed what price Indian Jade was for a place, Brother? ![]() |
By:
Pretty sure that the overround on the BFSP's was a total scandal considering that they had a pair of 2/1 shots in there.
By:
It's a ridic price but I doubt they'll do anything Tomo, if you contact them they'll quote what I posted earlier.
By:
I didn't George
By:
There was clearly an issue though.

I bet it in the win market at 13, in the pl at 4.5. I also have it in a luck15 with Olympic Glory. I was astounded to see the sp 0f 3.05. I called the BF helpdesk and was told there was a big bet just at the off which wiped out all the "bet" bets hence the crazy SP. Still smells a bit to me tho. 12-1 winner returns at 2s? Come on BF, sort it out. I don't need much of an excuse to take a sabatical from here. This will be it.
By:
BF have explained the low Ridyasina SP was cause by a lack of SP layers. (I am not quite sure I understand how this works). I have not yet seen the full result, so do not know what the race overorund was.
By:
Well that is shocking to be honest. How can they justify the integrity of BFSP's? Lucky it wasn't a particularly big race in the scheme of things, otherwise there would have been more uproar. Odds on no further action now! Annoyed.
By:
Also, there excuse is poor as there were a number of horses in the race whose bfsp's were quite frankly ridiculous.
