Did mention on another thread that Captain Ramius was 33s with Lads until about 17.30 on Friday when they went SP ( I am guessing to get to overnight prices that go in the papers ). Less than 5 minutes later new price low and behold was 16s....this according to history on Oddschecker

Just pure coincidence obviously

laddies are short on alot of horses - i presume that their odds on card holders get extra points which brings them more in line, also they have the biggest estate, their customers are regulars who arent price bothered,so like B.T isnt the cheapest phone calls or broadband - why be best value on the high street when your the biggest.

if they went even money every runner every race - they still keep a big percentage of their customers.

they ve also got the biggest overheads ,so they need the better margins

It is true that the comments on here are not representative of many punters. There are so many who are not price sensitive it is incredible.

Hearing punters casually agreeing to accept price changes in shops on their football coupons without even knowing what the changes are is a real eye opener.
Report homefortea September 23, 2012 7:40 PM BST
Biggest overheads - please explain as the last I looked they were the poorest payers in the FT100....
Report homefortea September 23, 2012 7:53 PM BST
Bon Viveur....

Funny you should mention the football.I was in a shop on Friday (!) and the Manageress told me she never had any problems when telling EVERY punter that there were price changes on the coupons. Those fixed odds punters really are mugs and will accept anything.Back in the day I would take 200 coupons on a Saturday and no-one was price sensitive.Seems the same now only there are far fewer bets...

However there was a file that was kept behind the counter with details of those who had self excluded themselves from betting because they had done their conkers on the FOBTS.....

It was the thickness of War And Peace only those in it were not at peace....

And they wonder why Betting Shops are quiet nowadays - all the good punters cannot bring themselves to have a racing bet because they are too tempted by the machines..

Never mind those self same ex betting shop punters will be in the pubs trying to win a monkey on their machines...

daniels mother, which 6 ladbrokes are open at 8.15 ?
Report millhouse September 24, 2012 6:49 AM BST
Sorry if this has already been mentioned (haven't read it all), but surely it's just as likely that he looks through the prices, checks where the biggest bookmaker in the country want to be shortest, thinks 'I'll have a closer look at that', sees why they are shortest, and then tips the horse at 6 points longer with one of the more ric prone books in the Pricewise table.

Cut to legions of 'arise Sir Tom' fawning threads, disingenuous Racing Post 'Peerless Pricewise' headlines, and lots of happy but non price sensitive long term losing punters who didn't get the advised prices but are still delighted to back a winner whatever the odds...
Report Happy Valley September 24, 2012 6:49 AM BST
this was pricewise's theme (ie pay close attention to where Ladbrokes were especially shorter than their rivals) going right back to the days of its founder, the esteemed Mark Coton to whom I send my best regards.
Report moondan September 24, 2012 8:32 AM BST
As a general rule Ladbrokes are lowest across the board for most prices.

Also this worship of pricewise is laughable, like us all he has his good and bad days and when you consider he has 2 selections in one race and usually 4 other selcted races its easily blown up out of proportion.
He had a 50% strike rate on saturday but he has hardly set the world alight in recent months and I am quite sure there are many on here that do better on a regular basis, me included.

The Pricewise sheep make me laugh...and the advertised prices are pie in the sky...theyre cut early on Friday evening and very usually unobtainable. If you wait till 8.30am you can get a £1 on but thats about it. Hugh Taylor also. Nonsense. Study your own form, trainer patterns, betting moves and you will do fine.

i love these threds where all these' winning 'punters come on and say its easy !! anyone who wins regularly will be restricted off course ,it is almost impossible to win on here due to commission charges , r4 deductions etc .so to have pricewise races where you can get a price for 15 mins is a godsend !!

daniels mother at last i can converse with a fellow believer someone who does what i do , theres a ladbrokes in rotheram that opens at 8 sat urdays you can get 50 quid on easily sometimes 75 and sometimes a ton depends how crafty you are , i take my mrs, with me or ask an old lad in the shop , always treat them if you win and tip the girl behind the conter, the other trick is to stick the pw in a double with a non runner. i hit different towns every satday , so the info about leeds is very welcome, i do the above at coral, 8.30 but only usually tenners there , betfred are easy , 9.00 am and william hill very easy, and get two ,9.00am , i make good money and will be glad to share other stuff i do but not on here . send me a contact request.
