I believe there are a couple who wish to trade and interact with actual cash punters and mentally joust over fractions or even take a view that the beast can't win. I'd wager such a throwback doesn't total 3% of those standing. This poxy cowardly modern scum who won't take an even score even if only holding a £100 exposure if it goes 1.99 on the machine just need shooting. A bookie is supposed to take a gamble and have some sort of exposure, the modern gutless geek has no recourse to exposure, just commission. Get a new ringfenced area with bookies not falling back on the machine and trading between themselves in a cash cash market and generating an atmosphere and punter/bookie enmity.

The thing I don't get is why they go racing? If the machine is everything then stay home, lay at leisure and save the exes.Makes you wonder how many have a licence purely for laundry purposes?

I used to lay thru pubs, factories without bees etc (bygone era) but if anybody wanted an actual bet rather than interest I gave them best coupon price from big 5 and would listen to any wager required if I thought doable. Maybe I'd share some back (not bet back but share the liability) and life before the net was lived through a mobile. At least I'd always keep the first grand of exposure for myself be it 1000-100 many 100-80 for example. Undoubtedly I loved the buzz and the gamble more than those accounting but I had a relationship with my punters and a craic to boot. Standing on course is just so sterile and soul destroying nowadays. There will be a few gems out there, not many though

Those "gems" will be even rarer than a pink diamond in time..

TBF I really shouldn't comment as what I hear and read is secondhand. Once upon a time I went 3 times a week minimum racing and 4 nights to the dogs. Those days are like my youth, never coming back.

I still go, can't keep me away in the winter months, but it's mainly for the craic now (you still get some)

The agents you recruited from here not getting on anymore?
