Now had Millman got his mallet out and bashed O'Neill over the head with it, us Herbalist backers might have stood a chance...But for merely taking the second's ground and hampering him, no chance...

Erm, no, you said you were surprised they'd called a SE.
FFS man, how far does the winning distance have to be before they call a SE?
The winner clearly took the second's ground.

That's another nutty decision That was like a throwback from 20 years ago!
Thank fcuk for betting on the enquiries as I was able to offload most of my Herbalist lays, even though I only used it as insurance because I couldn't see it getting reversed For once, I'm in agreement with Tony Pennis

i layed the eventual winner so i have obviously a vested interest...........but win lose or draw its a long time since ive seen a race like that reversed in this country . you could take that to another 15 english tracks and at least 14 of them would say no change......incredible

well if that is now the template we'll get an amended twice a day,it was racing and Herbalist had almost a furlong to move left and shoot up a gap only 4 horse widths wide next to the rail. And the stewards were certain it would have won? Drink/drug test the doddery old wastrels. Absolutely shocking and if it stands on appeal then amendments will be commonplace.

they should employ one stewarding group in one office in London different stewards different interpretations = zero consistency
How can that lose the race when the Mccabe horse that beat the Hills odds on poke last week keeps the race?
Exactly.

the point is all we are asking for is a little consistency...just a tad..............whether it should be thrown out is besides the point ..........in those situations they very very rarely get thrown out here ............as i said , be a long time before you see that again in this country

With an unimpeded run to the line the second would've reached the line more quickly than he did (i.e.the nose he was beaten). The first past the post caused this. Simple call really, this is the correct decision, it's all the other decicions that are ridiculous.

America yes, Australia well maybe. In the U.K. we expect that result to stand, it was a truly dreadful decision. No consistancy, Pizarro kept the race after Spencer performed the equine equivalent of gbh.

Full time, highly trained, professional stewards are what's needed in this country. Also a review of the interference rules that lean heavily in favour of the horse causing interference.

I sympathise with the losers on that race, but you should know by now that the stewards are NEVER to be relied upon! I've learned plenty of lessons and that's why I don't mind 'forfeiting' a few quid to stop the worry in the enquiry.
I was really tempted when it went to around 1.4 to keep the race but I smelled a rat, as it was far too big a price. I'm just relieved I got out of jail, even though I was still down on the race.

rarely do we get such agreement on this forum ..this is indeed unusual for more than one reason .............and it proves that layers and punters dont mind losing..thats life i am afraid.....but we do want consistency and therefore a chance ....if we are to be at the mercy of random opinions of geriatric senility with no rules on stewards inquiries ..then we havent moved forward in 50 years of stewards. this is 2012...my God cant we get fairness across the board ?

it's happened, I've moved on but racing remains the toughest game in the world; appeal will indeed be interesting, wish I could be a 'fly on the wall' as they deliberate on 'what the bloody hell have the leicester stewards landed us with!' off to see the swimming olympics and then a sound sleep in readiness for tomorrow.

the most cynical aspect was the betting. The huge bet which took the amended winner from 4s to 1.3 in a fraction of a second just before the announcement. Should be a stewards into the stewards imo.

The 2nd had every chance to go past even with the interference. I agree with race course commentator that im not sure he would of gone past in another 50yds!

So if there is an appeal when will this be? Shahdaroba was the last leg in my 5-horse multiple, 4-winners then Shahdaroba went over the line first and i thought the 5th was in the bag gutted its been overturned!

agree with ap re: a lot depends on the jockeys and what they say. I don't think it's fair, for example, say an inexperienced apprentice up against Fallon. How intimidating would that be for an apprentice, imo?
They have all the angles, is there any need to interview jockeys?

The moral of this debacle is to never rely on stewards to do the right thing.
I traded out for a loss even though I reckoned that it had no chance of it getting chucked if consistency is anything to go by. Just relieved that I did.

Im gutted obviously regarding the bet, but i think im more in shock like everyone else on this thread of the resulted being changed because you see a lot worst than that and never see the result get amended!
