Amberleigh House. I saw Burton Port win a novice hurdle there. Raya Star ran last year and ended up winning the Scot Champ Hurdle.

they used to have a champion hurdle trial,which threw up gaye brief. also think stans pride might have won before winning the champion. |

Docklands Express won there over fences and the subsequent Stayers Hurdle winner Balasani won a novice hurdle.
The Champion Hurdle trial was called the Fred Rimell Hurdle in the late 80's, early 90's, but inevitably it got changed to a handicap not long after that. Would agree that Silver Buck was probably the best though - he won a minor handicap chase as a warm up for Cheltenham when racing had been off for weeks due to bad weather. He had 12st 7lbs and most of the rest had 10st - of course this was back before rating limits removed the chance of top class horses turning up at the lesser tracks. |
