Bristol Rover for sure you are not in the Premier League of gamblers.....
The whole point is that no-one can access the mythical prices and so no-one can win...
Why the prices have gone is a story for another day....

the prices never exist and the horses dont win, not even a toddler completely guessing at which horse would win would go 70 without a winner....its just so unbelievably bad....how he has a job still is beyond me

He has picked one of my selections today (Astroscarlet), not sure if that is good or bad on his current form.
However at least i got the price before the lemming bookies cut it after Hugh posted it up.
I have also backed Gabrial's Lexi EW based on its unlucky run 2 starts back at Windsor.

So many cant see past `My ROI is blah blah iver 3 years'.
A pinsticker at the best morning prices would probably have about a 40-45% chance of being in profit after hundreds of selections.
1 in 70 would break the bank of Monte Carlo.
In the name of Saddam Resign before the soup kitchens are overloaded.

There is some heavy criticism of Hugh Taylor here but not a lot of substance to many of the replies. I would never follow his tips for a number of reasons e.g. what open / usable accounts I do have would be affected I'm sure, dont like tipsters, etc etc but that does not mean he is clueless. Firstly strike rate is irrelevant we all know you could lay some massive outsiders and have a 95% strike rate and still conceivably lose money. If he just resorted to picking favs and changing the way he selects his bets just to have a winner then he would be a mug. With the prices he works around long losing runs will inevitably happen.
His profit might well be mythical for pretty much most followers but even if you got 80% of the price then you would still be in profit if you have the accounts.
Thirdly the quote by KingG if i had a column i would never go more than 3 selections without a winner.... is only topped by his later comment i laid astroscarlet for 3/4 my bank, was that confident it wouldnt win, well all I can say grasp the basics of a betting bank before you spout off such inane dribble and attempt to big yourself up.

As a keen market follower I would say that I have backed a large proportion of his selections before he has posted them...
I wonder why that is.....

That is one point and agree for the average joe would be difficult. but some of the other points just utter nonsense. You could always get on if it meant that much to you and it was worth your while, e.g. people ready to bet in shops, lots of accounts etc but would have to be worth the effort.

Stick your toys back in the pram and get your facts straight first. I and a friend tested a number of his selections over last three months (long story but having similar argument with a friend about whether you can make money following his selections - incidentally I was saying you couldn't get the prices). My test showed you can get on average 80 to 85% of the price on the vast majority, so not sure what your shouting is based on. Before you moan I would agree the bookies online etc will lay for peanuts if at all etc etc but the prices have not gone before gone online not if your quick.

"poor Hugh will be kicking himself for not putting up that 14/1 beauty as a selection"
The way things are going with his daily selections at the moment he'd probably miss.

get a life!!! doing some tests with your friend ? whats wrong with you.....and have you not realised has had 1 winner in 70+ selections. idiots like you make me feel embarassed to be on this planet
I wonder how much money the so called bookmakers actually took at 33/1? Or have they just cut the price without laying it at all as soon as Hugh's selection appears.
They are then prepared to lay it at 20/1 or less to those who follow Hugh blindly as they know he makes a loss at SP.

hes had 1 winner in 70+ selections and your doing tests with a friend ? OH DEAR!!!
If you could read properly you would have noticed I started this test well before his bad run and made it clear had no intention of backing them.
Go and lay something else for 3/4 of your bank. I'm awaiting your column to start where you'll never have 3 consecutive losers..

its possible to move a price from 33's in to fav around about 9/2 ... 4's ish with about 40 nuggets in the right circumstances....how do I know ? because I have done it and the account was closed the very next day....

Duncan----------don't worry about your hero--------------------------------------------- his "detailed statistical analysis", as he quotes in today's tip page, will always stand him in good stead (not)!
In truth, I admire his diligence in what he personally believes to determine the outcome of races, (but I and many others know different in most cases ). Seriously though, I wish him well in life, and with this very obscure tip, -- if it wins-----respect is surely due from all of us cynics.

Was bound to happen after some of the over the top criticism on this thread. Can't get on - yes can get that, but long losing runs to be expected at some point based on the prices he works on.

There must be someone out there whos stuck by Hugh's selections but missed out today. The selection went up v early this morning and lasted about 1 minute.

I never doubted his prowess but the price was once again unavailable.16/1 at best and especially when it was put up so early....
Still all you lads must have filled up in running - what price did it go to ?

I'd stopped following his turf selections last week as had come to the conclusion that was one of the reasons he was struggling; the ground. Was sticking with aw ones but this morning I didn't know he had tipped one for Southwell. Thought value was gone at 14/1 so didn't bother. I usually got at least 90% of the price when i tried. Did anyone get 20-25/1 even?

for the record, just had a look at Oddschecker and 33s was available from 8.21 until 9.40, so plenty of time for all those who, like Hugh, are good enough to find it for themselves.

Well done to anyone who got the price. to anyone who backed it at 20s or less. MUG.
Like a lot of others, I layed off his selections a while ago. You have to drsw the line somewhere, just couldnt give up 2 hours every morning or risk the sack to follow someone who admitted they were easily on the worst run in 25 years.
Hopefully normal service is resumed.

1/ Don't take the times on Oddschecker as gospel as it depends on when the"Bookmakers" site is scraped. How many times have you clicked on a price to find it has gone.(By the way is you are half successful go to their main site and use Oddschecker as reference only).Indeed Oddschecker on some occasions can be minutes behind other such sites. 2/The "Bookmakers" always know his selection first and cut the price because they know the types who follow him will take any price.

Homefortea, we all know the issues of getting on (regardless of followed tipsters) it's been done to death but there is no need to try to prove that nobody can ever get his price. If people wish to follow him they know the issues and the effort involved.

As i said earlier on this thread i doubt many of the so called bookmakers take any decent money on Hugh's selections before cutting them. I think they realise that people will continue to back Hugh's picks at vastly reduced odds 5mins after he puts it up.
I would be surprised if anyone got any more than £10 at 33/1 and if they did their account will more than likely to be closed tomorrow.
Pathetic state of affairs really but thats the way most of these firms work nowadays,

If a price is available with a few firms then it goes up. If he had waited other people may also be in agreement that 33-1 was too big and the price would go. Many of them go up when shops open but not all.

A most informative 45 minutes with Saint Hugh, imo
Got me thinking, George...maybe we should have a thread of horses expected to do better when fast ground arrives?

Sure, duncan. Must admit haven't given it too much thought yet, although there's that one of Stoute's on my list of 10 to avoid who I'm sure needs a sounder surface (by Dynaformer and both winning siblings wanted it on top).
