Earlier this week I put on a Quadpot via Betfair for Stratford.

I got the Quadpot for a good few units.  I noticed that the dividend quoted by Tote of £47.60 was incorrect (they had included the unplaced fav in the last leg in the winning units and therefore overstated the amount of winning units and understated the true dividend), I queried this with Tote, Tote eventually got back to me a few days later to acknowledge/admit that the dividend was incorrect (with no apology forthcoming).  I let Betfair know immediately of this mistake by Tote, but as of yet Betfair have not paid me the difference even though they are well aware of the problem.

Bearing in mind that the mistake was made by a Tote operative.  I'd be interested to know the views of the other punters.

1)  Should Betfair pay me the difference?

By the way, this under declared dividend may also (and probably did) apply to the placepot dividend.  Therefore, anyone whom did get the Stratford pp or Qp up earlier this week should be aware that they were underpaid.  In this particular instance the underpayment doesn't amount to a huge amount, but potentially could have cost me hundreds or thousands of pounds, so it's the principle of the matter I'm querying.

We had a conversation on another thread the same night , just bumped it up for you

Thanks all, bit worrying though that the fate of the punter is based on the accuracy of a Betfred/Tote operative.  I bet that doesn't get too much publicity by Baldy.

watchit, not the cash bettors on track and tote direct who binned their slips, some nice sleepers for the baldy xmas do

If you check the other thread peejay stated that they admitted to him there was an error , so why hasn't anything been done   Confused

Agree with both Barking and Watchit, of course, the only winner is Betfred, it's a worrying thought that making mistakes like that add to Betfred's wealth, makes you wonder how many more mistakes there have been on the Totepool?

In all honesty guys irrespective of the amounts involved there's no way i'd accept this if affected me personally.

So let's sum it all up.......

-An employee makes a human error and enters an extra place horse into the winner mix so decreasing the dividend for the " legitimate " winners.

-They admit a mistake has been made & that the dividend is underpaid.

-Consequence is that placepot winners receive a reduced dividend  of £248.80 as opposed to the correct one of £288.50

The fact that the error hasn't been rectified within 3 days is a disgrace in itself but the fact that nothing may be done is totally unacceptable.

Take this as far as you need to guys as a matter of principle as well as financial , don't give the culprits the satisfaction of letting this be swept under the carpet.

Absolute outrage , good luck guys

Thanks Hayden and agree with all you've said.  It's a disgrace that is hasn't been rectified to date.  How can it possibly be right that a customer(s) is unfairly underpaid due to the incompetency of their own staff (be it Betfred or Betfair), no other industry would tolerate such an approach, but it's typical of the apathy of the racing industry and the contempt with which they treat punters.
Report Hayden July 6, 2012 9:56 PM BST
One thing for certain ( unless they have double standards )is that Betfair will be in total agreement and back your claim , for the simple reason that when accounts are overpaid on here the discrepancy is taken back by any means available & i'm sure they wouldn't want it both ways.

Failing to hear anything from Betfair you should involve ATR , Big Mac , Racing Post any anyone else they will help to obtain both a fair settlement and to highlight all the negative publicity that this fiasco deserves.

Best of luck , keep us updated    Happy

Thanks Hayden, I'll let you know the outcome, I won't know till Monday as I emailled them from my work email (I should have added, that I initially emailled Betfair immediately, the Stratford dividend was declared).  I suppose there's 3 possible outcomes.

1) Betfair don't pay up.
2) Betfair only pay up the people that queried it.
3) Betfair pay out all parties whom were underpaid.

I would hope Betfair do the decent thing (per option 3), but we shall see on Monday (hopefully).

Cheers

Betfair or any other company may or may not feel obliged to reimburse bets placed on their site but tbh that would be papering over the cracks of an incident that questions the integrity and procedural requirements of tote betting.

Unless an appropriate representative comes forward and authorizes correct settlement together with an apology & reasons for the delay it will leave tote pool customers totally lacking in confidence regarding the integrity , honesty & good intentions of the entire product.

Hope you all get paid but it would be far better if that was due to an official amendment of the dividends rather than an ex gratia payment via a guilty conscience.

Hello all, just quick update, Like Watchit, I got paid the difference today.  So, to be fair, Betfair did the decent thing on this occasion.

Hopefully, everyone else who got short changed also got paid out as well.

Unfortunately, as stated earlier on the thread, betting shop tote direct punters, and even worse in some respects the poor s0ds who paid to get in Stratford and did the pot on course have been fleeced, baldy counting his sleepers and smilingAngry
