Yes like prize money and picture frame  for winning a race
Report DOUBLED July 4, 2012 4:50 PM BST
I was referring to benefits for Betfair customers
Report dustybin July 4, 2012 4:55 PM BST
betfair dont have customers
just employees
Report BobSievier July 4, 2012 4:57 PM BST
Billy Hills , caught in a pincer movement Von Runstedt would have been proud of.

If there was a level playing field how much would turnover have to increase to compensate betfair for the much reduced average commission paid by winners?
Report barry dennis July 4, 2012 6:01 PM BST
timeless, I delighted, commission rates sky high
Report use2begudear July 5, 2012 10:13 AM BST
a "more level" playing field has limitless possibilities in the growth of Betfair
Report daza40 July 5, 2012 10:34 AM BST
does this mean we will be paying more commision?
Report roddyo July 5, 2012 10:36 AM BST
We def need more money for winning a race as owners or its back to the pit for me
Report daza40 July 5, 2012 10:37 AM BST
hi ho
Report DOUBLED July 5, 2012 11:36 AM BST
prize money is not just down to the levy - plenty racecourses making good money without giving anything back to the sport. More interested in filling the courses with p1ssed up kids who are waiting for the concert to start than growing the sport and putting racing first
Report barry dennis July 5, 2012 1:43 PM BST
exactly, spot on
Report Outpost July 5, 2012 1:46 PM BST
they need to take the media rights money back from the greedy racecourses and give it to the owners as it is the owners who provide the product.
Report marc1013 July 5, 2012 2:15 PM BST
Arrh don't forget those lovely silver gilt photo frames priceless

Live BF odds on big screens at racecourses ? When 4G comes i-pad IR on racecourses ?
Report howard July 5, 2012 2:53 PM BST
The longer the bookies take to do deals the more BF will benefit.
Report DOUBLED July 5, 2012 3:02 PM BST
Maybe the racecourses will not be so quick to stop anyone using Betfair on their tracks now as ultimately they will benefit from any increased turnover Shocked
Report unbiased July 5, 2012 3:04 PM BST
howard, live odds on big screen at Ascot, and in running prices,a few months ago.Don't know if that was the case at Royal.
Report barry dennis July 5, 2012 3:35 PM BST
your getting carried away guys, betfair £8M a year, traditional bookmakers £60M, doubt they will favour betfair.

doubled which tracks ban exchange betting?
Report DOUBLED July 5, 2012 3:39 PM BST
plenty people told to stop using i pads to play in running on various tracks barry - unless your paying for a private box and doing it "officially" then they will chase you Shocked
Report DOUBLED July 5, 2012 3:41 PM BST
barry -  8 million a year is MINIMUM contribution but will increase in line with Betfairs growth
Report barry dennis July 5, 2012 3:43 PM BST
haven't seen anybody chased last 6 years at tracks I've worked, nobody cares, management, ring busies or on-course books, you can normally back any horse at exchange prices for greater amounts without having to pay commission
Report DOUBLED July 5, 2012 3:46 PM BST
try standing in front of a TV and play in running with your i pad barry - you will be politely asked to leave
Report barry dennis July 5, 2012 3:47 PM BST
doubled, not sure stock markets agree about growth, prices dived dramatically after agreement, recovered slightly but long range forecast not encouraging since launch.
Report DOUBLED July 5, 2012 3:49 PM BST
they are more likely to grow with the help of the BHA and tha racecourse association imo barry
Report barry dennis July 5, 2012 3:53 PM BST
you bull I'll bear.
Report DOUBLED July 5, 2012 3:55 PM BST
enough bull talked on the forum already mate Grin
Report dustybin July 5, 2012 3:56 PM BST
share prices?
bookies are leveraged up to the eyes, in effect it makes a laughing stock of what is or isnt a business
1 trillion in debt etc
Laugh
Report rcing July 5, 2012 3:56 PM BST
there was a feature in the racing post about 1 year ago where a man was asked to leave because he was using his ipad in the betting ring . from what i remember , it was stating how racetracks should be encouraging new technology and not stifling it
Report unbiased July 5, 2012 4:11 PM BST
ask them to explain the difference between using an i-pad or a mobile phone.I would love to hear the answer. How can one be ok and not the other!?
Report dustybin July 5, 2012 4:17 PM BST
think it was more about 'recording' the race and transmitting rather than betting
Report DOUBLED July 5, 2012 4:19 PM BST
dusty - there are examples of both in the last few months
