I know he's only just started but it doesn't bode well for his commentating future.

I must agree he is getting worse - spoiling every race he commentates on.

Who the hell has he replaced on the commentating roster and who makes that decision? One of the worst decisions ever.

Brings commentating into disrepute imho. Aside from his inane shouting nonsense, within 20 seconds of the race starting he got the colours of Henry The First and Spirit Of lake mixed up.

It is a joke - as someone said above, it is ruining racing.  Matt - the jockeys do get paid to ride them you know, we don't need to be grateful that they don't give up half way round.

he is good as in he has a different style to most who just tell you the order the horses are running in,

Matt - a small bit of advice - stop shouting while you are commentating.  It's not about you.

He is trying to compete with the shouty man

I like matt a lot but even as a fan i have to admit that he is not just poor as a commentator he is down right awful and does need meet the minimum standard that should be expected.

Entertaining presenter but an absolute shambles of a commentator,trying too hard to make his comments funny when nobody wants to hear it.

Take no notice of the knockers Matt,it all takes time just a bit of fine tuning and you'll be up there with the best.
As regards shouting no one ever seems to criticise John Hunt,

it makes all his cheesy comments about how much he loves the sport look a bit silly,if he really did love the sport he would have admitted a long time ago that he just aint got what it takes to be a commentator,stayed in the booth where he belongs and let proffesional commentaters do their thing and try to attract costommers and not turn them away

Chumpman's commentaries are now worsening by the fence.  I cannot take much more of this nonsense.

Chapman attempts to play to the crowd,sadly he fails in every department. Getting close to be as annoying as that moron Thommo

Although i wanted to give him a chance i must agree he is ruining racing for anybody who really loves the sport. That was so unprofessional, trying to get the crowd going but he doesnt have the words in his head and gets to loud then trying to make up for it. Very poor at it now and i hope he packs it in but dont think he will.

he embodies so much of what is wrong with this country....pretending that someone with no experience can be employed to fulfil a role that undoubtedly requires a proper grounding and training in presentation...it is an insult to professional commentators as well as to we the paying customers who are entitled to listen to and expect an informed commentary.

Any man who spends  time on a Sun Bed as he obviously does is Tart.He's a Joy Boy and if he was made out of chocolate he would eat himself. Matt Chapman and Phil Brown (Failed Football Manager) are two peas in a Pod imo .

I would advise all forumites to cancel their accident claims and write to the advertisers giving Chapman's insufferable commentary as the reason that you have been forced back to work.

Can one find a list of commentators at which course on such a such date in advance?

At new abb today there were so many complaints they turned the volume down after r the first, it was slightly less unbearable after.

i think matt champmans commentating is hilarious and is much more entertaining than any other commentator out there, always gets me laughing, keep it coming chappers!!!

Don't need to entertain, he is there to let US know what is happening all the add on's are a complete waste of oxygen

I dont mind Matt but, commentating isn't his game,stick to punditry and he will make a living.............

Matt is fantastic in the betting booth ,works extremely hard.But his commentary on a race is terrible.

Always thought Lee MacKenzie was the worst commentator but Chapman is far worse. I just would not go racing if I knew he was commentating. It's all part of the dumbing down of racing - just might attract the morons.

i'm with you get rid of mark chapman his commentating is terrible as is his voice very annoying!i mute him too.

hes very good in the box but i dont like his commentary i always turn the sound of for all the commentors but yestersday i was in shop and heard chappers all afternoon

Why is he doing it? do atr save money or something by not having the course commentary.

I think he is good value but would love to know why.
