seems to have cracked french racing.
Report elise • June 3, 2012 4:15 PM BST
he's been given two soft leads to be fair, but at least he's taken advantage

LaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh

Priceless.
Report flyingbolt • June 3, 2012 4:25 PM BST
Yes G1 but he was there because that was where he chose to be.
Report G1_Jockey_4 • June 3, 2012 4:28 PM BST
how can you choose to be somewhere with horses in front and both sides??

had a choice in the straight and chose the inside....which was wrong.

he never had any choices for quite a few furlongs before that
Report TheTrainer • June 3, 2012 4:28 PM BST
the horse didnt have the tactical speed to acquire an early position
Report differentdrum • June 3, 2012 4:40 PM BST
Presumably if he lacked tactical speed it was a pretty stupid decision to run him?
Report Elbows McGuinness • June 3, 2012 4:45 PM BST
Just caught the result. Winner's price astounding. Can anyone on here ever recall a 33-1 shot return a Betfair SP of over 600-1. Won a Gp 3 on penultimate start and beaten 3/4L by Kesampour last time out. Bewildering stuff.
Report flyingbolt • June 3, 2012 4:48 PM BST
G1

He had plenty of time to take a better position before the straight. Even when they hit the straight a blind man could see there was never going to be an opening on the inside. He should have switched outside straight away.

The main damage was done in not taking a better position earlier.

As for you TheTrainer as the horse never came off the bridle until after he'd been hampered you are guessing.........badly.
Report TheTrainer • June 3, 2012 4:54 PM BST
yeah he was on the bridle at the back of the pack, he actually got a cleaner trip than most until they turned in, no barging about running up the back of horses on the way round, he was pulled wide and got outpaced for a few strides, then ran on.

decent stayer but too slow for a race like this.
Report flyingbolt • June 3, 2012 4:59 PM BST
Watch it again.

He ran in the back of horses and lost at least 3 lengths and considerable momentum.
Report hippie • June 3, 2012 5:02 PM BST
You can't blame Joseph because the French were being French. It was a messy race  - as was expected.
Report TheTrainer • June 3, 2012 5:03 PM BST
ive watched it 4 times from start to finish, his lack of tactical speed has got him in alot more trouble than he should have been in.

Saint Baudolino got murdered the whole way, watch him and you see a horse who would have been passing rivals on the bridle if he had the gaps, the same cannot be said of Imperial Monarch.
Report flyingbolt • June 3, 2012 5:05 PM BST
"THE FRENCH WERE BEING FRENCH"

wtf is that supposed to mean ?

Did he think they were going to move over and let him up the inside ?
Report hippie • June 3, 2012 5:13 PM BST
They came round that bend and all looked to come inside as they always seem to do - "the French being French".

His inexperience wouldn't have helped but it didn't even look as if he wanted to come up the inside, he was just left with no place to go. They concertinaed, that wasn't Joseph's fault.

It was supposed to be a Group 1 race ffs.
