They are a laughing stock fs. 7/1,6/1,7/1,13/2,7/1,6,1,13/2,7/1,6,1 thats the price changes on one horse in the space of about 45 minutes earlier.

they haven't been one of the big boys for over 3 years now.Their slow authorisation process for ptl is cowardly. The punter doesn't even know if he is on half the time as potential authorisation continues as the race begins and evolves. Proper rancid and they don't carry any dough either to pay winning bets.It is set aside for the machine punters.

they seem to be at a point where they dont know if they are coming or going.

i can usually get decent sized bets on in the shops... 2k, 4k.. usually no problem.

yesterday they were stuttering..

looking for 2k at 7/2 on a horse 2 hours before a race  and every bookie in the country going 7/2..

offered 200 at 7/2 and the rest at sp..

horse had got close to the advertised price on here.. they seem to have lost their sense of betting intelligence. had to go around different shops putting smaller amounts  and these bets were taken through the ptl system.. without a problem... assume that someone had laid it on here for 60 quid back out to 4.7..

to be relying on betfair for prices just seems a bit strange for such a big bookie.

hills were actually worse though.. took a 10 minute phone call for the same bet... was offered 100 pounds at 7/2 and they immediately cut the price to 3/1...

the bookies seem to have lost the plot.. price manipulation has never been so easy or prevalent. the only way that they are going to get a good idea of if a price is right or wrong is actually to take real bets.

it would seem that i am going to have to lay my horses on here just the minute before i want a decent bet on... just enough so that the trader can see the graph going upwards... it wont matter for how much but just so the chimp can see the graph going up...

sorry did i say chimp there..

Your ordinary punter sitting in a shop will not put up with this....... they will think they are being ripped off and vote with their feet.......  even the machine business is down in the majority of their shops cos they aint getting the footfall through the door.  They have lost the plot big time......  No Strategy  No Punters No Idea!!!!!

I've also noticed that they havent been on the racecourse the last couple of times i've been to Lingfield and Windsor....
Report IanP May 23, 2012 10:56 AM BST
It was in the paper yesterday that they were cutting back on course.  Lingfield & Windsor were two of the tracks mentioned.  Three staff made redundant as a result.

Maybe they're going skint , my local shop never has more than a handful of people in , whereas over the road both competitors shops very busy...

All the bookies are struggling .  Diminishing number of real punters  , fed up with being messed about and refused bets .

One of the other bookies , who still have decent numbers in their offices ( courtesy of incessant offers which must be a nightmare for staff ) have not given their staff a pay rise for about 4 years .

Bookies are all run by bean counters now , not by sporting types who would take a view and back it up with prices .

Once vibrant industry  , now going backwards daily .

The ordinary punter in the shops doesn't care if the price is going up and down like a ****s knickers. He's not sat there monitoring the changes, saying to Fred next to him that that Whitby Jet price keeps changing. Plain

And the machine business is still going up or did you miss their first quarter results Mischief
