Report AdrianMole May 21, 2012 2:29 PM BST
I think if it happened on the level they would change it, but it happened at the hurdle. Not sure it will be reversed.
Report Slippy Blue May 21, 2012 2:30 PM BST
Whatever you may think I would be very surprised if they threw the winner out.
Report richters May 21, 2012 2:30 PM BST
of course it did sure he near stopped....result will be amended....
Report wilsford May 21, 2012 2:31 PM BST
yes. bad interference!
Report thebrave May 21, 2012 2:31 PM BST
Mick Fitz has actually managed to drag his a rse off the fence, and given a firm opinion
on the interference - so for that reason alone, result stands LaughLaugh
Report book May 21, 2012 2:32 PM BST
horses are bumped over hurdles all the time, shouldent change it,mccoys always sticking his horse across another horse over a jump.
Report GoldenHawk May 21, 2012 2:33 PM BST
was on the jolly but for me it happend to far out
Report jollie May 21, 2012 2:34 PM BST
because it sp tight , 50/50 to get reversed , depends on the stewards on the day
Report AdrianMole May 21, 2012 2:35 PM BST
correct, book. A dose of his own medicine there. It's one of his favourite tactics.
Report Poppydog. May 21, 2012 2:35 PM BST
The collision at the 2nd last was huge.
2nd totally battered.

If they take this into consideration, surely amended

Layed winner at 1.3

zero consistency in these decisions....seen far worse keep and far less lose.....red or black on these calls...
Report duffy May 21, 2012 2:36 PM BST
littledean price collapsing.
Report KeyserSoze83 May 21, 2012 2:38 PM BST
I'm pretty inexperienced horseracing wise, well a few years in, I backed Littledean Jimmy for what it's worth, but can't understand why they have stewards at all, bar penalty days they rarely if ever change the result over here and unless a Jockey's clotheslined another rider there doesn't seem much that doesn't go for them.

The horse cut completely across the second, if McCoy had fallen there'd be nothing to say bar penalty days maybe, but he didn't he got beat what looks like less than a head.

Why are people so sure he should keep it ?
Report AraziTheGreatest May 21, 2012 2:38 PM BST
after last weeks refusal by wolverhampton stewards to amend any result, no results will ever be amended again!
Report Arklearkle May 21, 2012 2:40 PM BST
Too far out. Next thing they will say his horse box crossed lanes on the M1.
Report OVERSEAS May 21, 2012 2:41 PM BST
fwiw poor decision imo...

shocking decision, happens all the time & mccoy & walsh are the worst for doing it.
Report Slippy Blue May 21, 2012 2:43 PM BST
I'm amazed that was reversed, no consistency whatsoever in the game.
Report Hitandrun May 21, 2012 2:44 PM BST
McCoy always gets the result in the stewards room. same thing happened at Uttoxeter a few months ago. Champion jockey in the stewards room always gets favoured its a disgrace. If they start changing results for bumps like that the game is fkd
Report AdrianMole May 21, 2012 2:44 PM BST
If it happened on first circuit no one would bat an eyelid
Report OVERSEAS May 21, 2012 2:47 PM BST
it happened at the 2nd last ...it had so long to go past....rancid call the more I look at it.....
Report ewood May 21, 2012 2:47 PM BST
Have to agree with those questioning the consistency here. Have seen plenty similar or worse without a stewards being called at all and at what point during a race does an incident like 2 out become irrelevant? If it had happened 3 out would it have been changed?
Report Slippy Blue May 21, 2012 2:47 PM BST
I along with many others lumped on Rhinestone Cowboy in the Cheltenham bumper. Jamie Spencer on Pizarro caused what I can only describe as equine g.b.h. on the runner up and he kept the race!

It was a poor decision to say the least to reverse placings.
Report AdrianMole May 21, 2012 2:49 PM BST
One of McCoy's favourite moves over the years has been to run across a closer coming to an obstacle.
Report AraziTheGreatest May 21, 2012 2:51 PM BST
I wrote to the BHA last week about inconsistency in stewarding and they just bu11**** me (surprising eh?!)

I'll be emailing them again today after this. Bumps like that happen in virtually every race over hurdles and chases, and as AdrianMole says above, no-one cares if its on the first circuit.

Unbelieveable decision yet again.

Right, I'm off to compose another Victor Meldrew style email to the BHA !!
Report AdrianMole May 21, 2012 2:52 PM BST
totally right, ewood. Seen loads of early season juvenile hurdles where there's horses jumping all over the place early in the race, yet if two of them are involved in a close finish what happened early in the race is forgotten about. Is that right then ?
Report KeyserSoze83 May 21, 2012 2:52 PM BST
Maybe if I backed the 2nd I'd feel different, so I apologise, but McCoy made up 2 lengths going into the straight and up until that hurdle, he got sideswiped lost momentum made up the gap again and got beaten by less than a head.

i had no financial interest in the race but i think it is a ridiculous decision as this happens at some stage in every hurdle race
Report pappilionmybiggestwin May 21, 2012 2:57 PM BST
ihad finacial intrest in the race lol shame betfair dont payout quickly thoe still waiting for my winnings Plain
Report pedrobob May 21, 2012 2:57 PM BST
to those who are saying interference happened too far out and the second had enough time to go by....

Are you suggesting that is is ok to put another horse through the rails after a furlong, cause it to lose 10 lengths, and then keep the race when the one causing the interference beats the victim a length at the finish?
Report denathorn May 21, 2012 2:58 PM BST
Always gonna be changed, if you couldnt see that then your all in the wrong business.
Report Shazza93 May 21, 2012 2:59 PM BST
KeyserSoze83 hit the nail on the head, AP made up the distance, lost momentum because of the interference and STILL made up the gap to get beaten by barely a nose hair - take out the interference and AP wins hands down.
Report stridingedge May 21, 2012 3:01 PM BST
i dont mind the decision i think it was correct

as for consistency though i'm not sure, been on the end of worse than that and not got ammended.
Report stridingedge May 21, 2012 3:01 PM BST
all we want is consistency and i think stewards are often swayed by whos involved.
Report pedrobob May 21, 2012 3:01 PM BST
denathorn, I think you are misguided, these results have rarely been overturned in the past...... even though I think they should be.
Can understand why people getting upset as total lack of consistency. Same incident happened last week at Chester and winner kept race....

You have no idea what the stewards will do or what rules they will apply
Report AdrianMole May 21, 2012 3:04 PM BST
Agree, pedrobob. You rarely see them thrown out for running across a closer at an obstacle. I still maintain, if the very same thing happened on the first circuit and the winning distance the same there wouldn't even be a stewards.
Report denathorn May 21, 2012 3:05 PM BST
It all depends on whether the jockey throws them a wink, if they do its a nice back hander after racing. No wink No change!
Report pedrobob May 21, 2012 3:07 PM BST
Adrian, do you think we should starting having stewards for early interference?

If I remember, Nureyev got  thrown out because of interference to Known Fact long before the 2f marker
Report BARNSTER May 21, 2012 3:09 PM BST
what it boils down to is that a multi billion pound industry and multi million pounds worth of bets all get decided by 2 or 3 gin swilling amatures sitting in a room looking at races between lunch courses and the next round of drinks
Report KeyserSoze83 May 21, 2012 3:10 PM BST
I will add, that while in my head I can make a case for McCoy in this race, I have seen some ridiculous things over the years including riders seemingly jumping out of the irons clear and over the last, the stewards here in my mind do struggle to overturn results and especially on the flat.

In Comparison to America where it seems far more straightforward.

Then again there's probably thousands of races a year I don't watch.
Report AdrianMole May 21, 2012 3:12 PM BST
I,like everyone, just want consistency. Not a fan of American racing, but as soon as they cross the line you pretty much know if a horse will keep the race or get thrown out. What happened today will happen again in the near future, the result will stand and it's not good enough.
Report pedrobob May 21, 2012 3:16 PM BST
long since needed a central panel of professional stewards based at BHA HQ to adjudicate on these enquiries.

In today's age of technology, easy to have video conference call to all those involved

And these enquiries should all be available to the public live (as in US and other countries), absolutely zero reason to hold them in private (except to hide the incompetence of some of those involved)
Report denathorn May 21, 2012 3:16 PM BST
And how many jumps races are held in America?
Report AdrianMole May 21, 2012 3:17 PM BST
Totally agree with that, pedro
Report pedrobob May 21, 2012 3:17 PM BST
same happened on the flat at Chester last week, denathorn, Spencer won the race I think
