I am a £5 and £10 maximum bet man who likes a punt about 3 or 4 times a week. I wouldn't say I was a winner but I am not a loser either. I enjoy a bet.
Just had my account closed with SKYBET.

Can you please tell me why my account has been restricted? Is it because I dare to have a few winning bets and you only want people who lose to fund your account? It would help to have some idea of why my account has been closed?

Thanks for your email.

Although you may not agree with the reasons given, the account will still be restricted I'm afraid. It is a business decision which will not be reversed at present.

If you require any further assistance don't hesitate to get back in touch.

But that gives me no idea why my account should be closed?

Them
Thanks for your email.

I've checked the account and the reason the restriction is in place in because it looks like you are arbitrage betting.

This is where you take a top price with one bookmaker then look to lay it off with other's to make a guaranteed profit from a selection.

As a leisure betting company we take steps to monitor customer's engaging in this betting activity.

If you require any further assistance don't hesitate to get back in touch.

Thanks for your email.

Me
I can categorically say that I have never bet on one horse and laid it off. I can't see the point in that. What benefit would it be betting with £5 bets? I do try and get an advantage by getting onto horses at better prices. I am sorry if I am trying to gain an advantage.

This is a business decision made by our traders, as they respect your business.

As it states in the terms and conditions we do have the right to do this and they have made the decision to do so I'm afraid.

I hope this helps you and if you have any more queries on this matter please see our 'Help and Support' section on the web site.

i think the arbitrage bit adds insult to injury, we all know its because their compilers are clueless

The reason for their decision? You say that "I do try and get an advantage by getting onto horses at better prices". That is the reason. You should never, ever let a bookmaker know that you have the slightest clue what you are doing! Skybet clearly only want to deal with losers and mugs. You do not fit the bill as far as they are concerned. Take it as a compliment!

I have seen plenty written on here about none of this being fair. I have compiled a letter to Channel 4 Racing The Morning Line to ask if they would feature why someone who only ever bets in £10 or less bets and is losing overall should have their account restricted. I have also asked them wether the show is for the punters or the book makers, if it's for the punters then surely it is about time that it is aired.
There must be 2 stories a day like this on here.

The arbitrage thing is a joke, a 10/1 shot backed into 7/1 with a £5 stake would make me £2.14 or £50 if it won! What would be the point of working out odds on horses and the time it takes for £2?
