5.00 Cheltenham

PISTOLET NOIR

Probably the one horse in the field that will be suited by the 2m trip, ( a rare trip for Hunters) & soft ground should not be a problem.,,has actually won around here on soft ground.
Hacked up last time a Towcester, beating RYEMAN 23L….who is now 12LB better off,  but cant see it reversing the form on the soft ground.

PISTOLET NOIRs run  the time before at Leicester is stand out form In this race where it finished 5th to Rumbrey Grey over 3m.. a  trip probably too far for it……1st 2nd & 3rd in that race have all come out & won.

ICE COOL BENNY..unplaced in a point last time over 3m, travelled well & found nothing at the business end…had previously won a Hunter at Stradford  over 20f, again travelling well……but was a most fortunate winner…Findlays Find had come to win the race & fell at the last....SHALAMIYR  (steve Flook) was beaten out of sight in that race.
Soft ground should be fine for ICB.., but think the 2m trip will be too quick, although, they went a fast pace at stradford  & it travelled well….but cant see it giving  PISTOLET NOIR 7LB…….on  a form line through DUNSHANE…..  PISTOLET NOIR should beat it getting weight.

RASH MOVE..fav  for its point  over 3m last time, slipped up on the bend & could only finish 3rd, has decent form in Hunters…but surely the 2m trip will be far too short.

RONNIE RONALDE..hard to know what to make of it, ran a blinder last time in a Nov Chase over 20f (G/F)…had shown absolutely nothing before this…..ran as if farther would suit, so 2m might be on the short side for it, & has shown nothing on ground a s soft as this…..but looks to be an improver.

SHALAMIYR, won a point over 3m last time, ..has run regularly at trips around 2m, but  doesn’t look good enough to win this…..along with the rest.

With Trip & ground spot on… providing it gets around…PISTOLET NOIR should be too good for these…

5.35 Cheltenham…a tricky race!!

WOODVIEW PRINCE…..voted as the stables dark horse by Ed Crow…unseated on its 1st run at Whitfield since coming from Ireland,  then  impressed winning its maiden, then was again impressive when winning a restricted race at Garnons, before going back to Whitfield for an intermediate….holding on, winning by a neck from  Harbour Court in the fastest time of the day…..in fact, all its times have been quick.
A front runner , winning over  3m on softish ground….this has been its target all season!

NOBBY KIVAMBO….A habitual front runner that stays forever…will  definitely get up the hill.
Has already jumped reg fences, & goes on any ground…continually clocks fast times  in its points & will be hard to pass if it gets the lead
There were excuses when finishing 2nd the time before last….it had a lump on its back that was bothering it apparently……the horse that beat it ,had reversed the form around  by 30L..from the time before….  Another that has had this race  as its target!

SIMPLY GAME is a different horse since it came over from Ireland in the Autumn, (never won).. front runs & stays well, but Loves  fast ground  …..it wont get that here.

DOCTOR KINGSLEY…A Whitfield specialist having won 5 times there…A Good jumper who stays forever & needs it on the soft side…..just not sure that the form it up to winning this.

BOOKS REVIEW….the form figures look good, winning the last twice & on ground similar to this, but the form isn’t strong.

BENEDICTUS..already ran in a couple of hunters…..but looks like the ground has gone against it.

If pushed to have a bet in this it would have to be NOBBY KIVAMBO for me from the front…

Cheltenham 6.10

RUMBREY GREY

From the  all conquering  Steve Flook stable, has looked good this season in Hunters…& looks to be still improving, The trip & ground are fine & looks a proper stayer..always seems to pull out extra when challenged….not the flashy type that does it on the bit.…the form as it stands  is very strong & looks to have no negatives!!

MASSIMO.. just got caught in a 3m point last time by Debs Dasher (a fast ground horse)….a horse winning for the 4th consecutive time… Massimo was beat the time  before when it fell….that form is not good enough to win this although, its  a CD winner…but a horse thats best  on a quickish surface.

COOMBE HILL, has decent form in hunters, chasing home Turko last time…a good jumper that stays very well… but another that needs good ground  & should struggle off levels with RUMBREY GREY, especially on this ground

SHOUDHAVENOWNBETTR looks a dour stayer albeit on better ground…reeled in Quozak at Paxford last time….looked beat…  but has finished behind COOMBE HILL….& on the face of it, looks to have a lot to do.

As I see it, this looks good  for RUMBREY GREY who looks far too good for these & imo the fences are the only danger!
...........................................................................................................................................................................................................

Cheltenham 6.45

UNOWATIMEEN...The only one guaranteed to go on the ground, beat Turko 1L  on bottomless ground at Haydock where they were walking after the last, the ground was that bad!
It was still going well when it fell against Cloudy Lane at Aintree.

BILLYVODDAN, impressed last time in its point at Brocklesby Park, despite being hampered by loose horses,  it had run  disappointingly at Chaddesley four weeks earlier, but his poor showing can be excused by the fact that he coughed after the race and scoped dirty.
It had beaten a very decent field at chaddesley in January  & if adapting to the soft ground must have every chance of winning this race for the 2nd time after winning it last year, beating   UPTON SPRINGS,,,who has also been running well in points, but loves good ground, remains to be seen as to wether it goes on soft.

LADY MYFANWY..seems to have been going for an age, yet is still winning points, it  was tailed off in this last year & although a prolific winner in points, will probably find this a good deal harder.

This is a no bet race for me…I like BV…but the ground is a concern so happy just to watch.
......................................................................................................................................................................

Cheltenham 7,20

BRADLEY

All this horse does is stay….not much speed, but a dour stayer..the farther  the better,  has already won around  Cheltenham & ran here 11 days ago when just beaten by a back to form Ashkazar in a handicap chase (soft)….back in a hunter here &  must take all the beating.
Ran well in the Foxhunters here,  finishing  8th…TURKO was 2L in front it…so not that much between them ….KEENAN´S FUTURE was about 25L farther behind… but BRADLEY looks to be the one improving with its racing.
Both good jumpers,……but think Cheltenham is more BRADLEYS track….

THAT´S RHYTHM hacked up in a little race at Bangor….(a Bangor specialist)…..it will be a different test around here & would need to improve again.

The race should revolve around these….but BRADLEY looks the improver & as long as it is a test of stamina will be tough to beat!

Cheltenham 7.50

SPECIAL PORTRAIT

How could I not stick with this (backed it 3 times)…but its not out of sentiment..I don’t think this race is as competitive as it looks

The longer the distance & the softer it is..that’s  exactly what  SPECIAL PORTRAIT needs.
I can only see improvement over ths marathon trip, even giving the weight away!
A good jumper, who invariably comes off the bit a fair way from home..but all it does is stay.
A dour stayer & grinder., if anything beats this they will know they’ve had a race!
Won at Sedgefield  over  27f  , outstaying  them, carrying 12st 2LB….carried 12st 3LB last time at Perth on soft ground & bolted up.
That’s 2 races in 18 days & if  none  the worse for that, should prove hard to beat.

MID DIV AND CREEP, won this race last year (G/F)…but that race was less competitive than this.
I seems better on good ground, but lately its jumping has gone to pieces, & on the face of it still has it all to do.

DEAR VILLEZ..won a Point at Bonvilston…by 15L from the fast finishing 2nd…the time before, it was well clear by half way..only to get caught  & easily brushed aside ..both those point were over  27f on soft ground…will it stay the 4m??..obviously not the horse it was when with paul Nicholls.

I cant see anything else coming from the P2Ps to win this
The obvious one is SPECIAL PORTRAIT, who has no questions to answer & must be mighty hard to beat if the exertions  of the last couple of weeks haven’t left their mark.

Cheltenham 8.20

I HAVE DREAMED

Going on the assumption that SILVER ADONIS needs better ground & WHIZZAR was well beaten by I HAVE DREAMED last time (2lb better off)…which is not enough to turn the form around..then this should be between  I HAVE DREAMED & HERONS WELL.

I HAVE DREAMED,  trained by the man of the moment in Hunters, Steve Flook  has been at the top of its game recently & nothing here is in better form….has looked a different horse on its last 2 runs!!
I initially thought IHD would prefer better ground, but has won/ran well on soft ground….the 21f is ideal,  and wouldn’t  think it would want much farther than this …it has a habit of hitting one hard & will not get away with it around here.
When they met at Sandown against Gwanako….IHD finished 5L in front of HW…..giving it 4LB….HW was readily outpaced there……granted on good ground.

HERONS WELL gets 6LB this time  from IHD & soft ground suits well…. I Have never been a fan of this horse so maybe I’m biased lol… ran 3rd only beaten about 5L by Cloudy Lane at Aintree, running on at one pace,  normally that form  would/should be good enough to win this, but maybe HW wants farther these days & if IHD is with it at the last I can see HW  getting readily  outpaced yet again.

With I HAVE DREAMED in the form of its life, & granted a trouble free round must have every chance of winning this!

Do you have any thoughts on Mayfair Lastchance in the 5.35 ....  I notice the jockey (Drinkwater) is 2/2 in this race but the trainer/owner info looks sparse Mischief

Confused
