After a disappointing season in 2011 by his own high standards, he has made a very slow start to 2012. Just one turf win so far in a race worth £2264. May be he will do better on the AW this week as we are not likely to see much turf flat racing. I would want to see the stable hit some form before backing any of his.

LOL @ calling one of the greatest trainers ever a joke.....where do these people come from? Laugh
Report kingG111111 April 30, 2012 9:03 AM BST
used to be on of the greatest, not anymore, do you back all his horses then ? you must be bankrupt
Report dod April 30, 2012 9:04 AM BST
To call a trainer of Stoutes ability a joke is ridiculous it's about having the right horses and the quality is not there at the moment.
Report kingG111111 April 30, 2012 9:08 AM BST
he aint a joke but stay well clear is a fact
Report dod April 30, 2012 9:13 AM BST
Kg i was an ardent follower of his stable for many years, but agree things are not the same now and i treat his horses with some reservations,if i was a layer i would probably do well.
Report BurnageBoyo April 30, 2012 9:19 AM BST
When accessing any Flat trainers performance over the years, it boils down to how good the present horses are that he has in his stable, as most of them are only in training for for a couple of years, and it is nigh impossible for a trainer to have top class horses year after year, so there are bound to be good years and also mediocre ones.
Report saddo April 30, 2012 9:33 AM BST
ima_mazed66, you simply cannot help but leap in to defend any jockey or trainer out there. Are you a racing journo?
Report ima_mazed66 April 30, 2012 10:32 AM BST
No I'm just not a pocket talker and in fairness to the poster who said about Stoute being a joke, they do seem to have retracted that......they only spoilt it by asking do I back all of his horses, which is a bit of a daft question because I doubt anyone backs all of any trainer's horses even when they have been at their peak but one bad season suddenly doesn't make him a bad trainer or else Cecil was a bad trainer for about 5 years.

Let's not forget too it was only the season before that bad one that Stoute trained the winner of the Derby, King George and Arc and even in that bad season won the Brigadier Gerard, the Dante and Great Voltigeur and had horses placed in both the Derby and Irish Derby, the Eclipse, the St Leger and the Breeders' Cup Turf and his horses still won over £1.5million in prize money last season in the UK alone......Does anyone honestly think if Stoute had got Frankel instead of Cecil that he couldn't have trained the horse just as well?

Also has it ever occurred to you though saddo that there are times when I've either criticised a jockey myself when I thought it was justified or have not defended one if I have agreed with what was being said? Do you consider Stoute a joke then by the way?.....But no I'm not a racing journalist either. Happy

Report ima_mazed66 April 30, 2012 10:51 AM BST
LOL...right so he must have fluked those 5 Derby wins, 5 2000Gns, 2 1000Gns, 2 Oaks and a Leger, making it a clean sweep in all 5 British Classic as well as 3 Irish Derby wins, 6 Irish Oaks, an Irish 1000 and 2000, 5 King Georges (including a 1-2-3) an Arc, 5 Breeders' Cup wins, 2 Japan Cups, 1 each of a HK Bowl and HK Cup, 1 each of a Dubai Sheema and Dubai World Cup and numerous other group race wins both at home and around the world as well as a Champion Hurdle just for good measure............that has to be fishing though surely? Happy

He's useless.

You been following him since 2011 then?
Report sageform April 30, 2012 11:14 AM BST
I never said he was a bad trainer. I was just alerting people to the facts. I'm sure there will be some good horses emerging in time but the only way to get an edge in this game is spotting trainers in and out of form.
Report ima_mazed66 April 30, 2012 11:28 AM BST
I'll consider myself warned saddo. Happy

What you said was spot on sageform and I personally had no problem with it, it was kingG111111's suggestion that he was a joke that I found amusing but as previous mentioned, in fairness that was retracted and then SkintnBroke saying he was useless.

Is this some kind of joke thread. Everyone knows Stoute doesnt have his string firing until May each year so to write him off for 2012 of the back of one bad season and the first few months is beyond a joke. This thread should be called the quick route to the poor house, discounting all Stoute runners in every race as that plum king1111111 has said

Fecken hell the season has only started and one of the greatest is been wrote off lol.

My main grumble about Stoute is he is obsessed with having his horses held up out back off the the pace to preserve them. Loses more races because of this tactic imo

As we seen with cecil class is permanent , just look out for some nice prices on his horses

if commend had run tonite may have been over 2/1 , 3 years ago would have been odds on .
