Here's a puzzle. I've occasionally had the problem of having my account closed by bookies because it is "no longer economic" and Bet365 for example restrict my bets to about £3,50. However I've never been able to beat Ladbrokes; if their price is the best on offer the horse usually loses. So I was pretty surprised to get an email from Ladbrokes online this week telling me that my account has been closed. They have reviewed it, you see. Well I have reviewed it too and find that over the last 6 months it is to their crdit by £143! Big potatoes, you might think. Has anyone had the experience of a bookie closing a losing account? I've asked for an explanation but ... I'm a bit suspicious that these Gibraltar chappies are sharing information.

regwin , maybe you should just lay ladbrokes bigger price horses on here, and back there shorter price horses somewhere else

i mainly bet in running , so i've never had an account closed , in fact i've never had an account other than here Crazy

"if their price is the best on offer the horse usually loses"

There's your answer..

I've had the same email today - about £400 down over the past 12 months.  Never back horses with them - just football and an occasional dog.   How much do you have to lose to keep an account ?

I think that you have hit the nail on the head....

Too much sharing of information on that rancid rock allegedly..

Give it back to Spain....

Maybe it's the year end 'see how many accounts closed with other bookies' lists.
Wouldn't surprise me any more.

Dear Peter,

We are writing to you to let you know that we have reviewed your account.

As you will be aware until now your account has been heavily restricted and the bets that you have wished to place haven't been accepted.

We have taken the decision to close the account rather than continue to offer a heavily restricted service. Your account will remain open for the next 48 hours, please withdraw any balance during this time; once your account has been closed you will have to call us if you wish to withdraw any remaining funds.

We are aware that you may be unhappy with this decision and apologise for any inconvenience.

Your sincerely,

you might be right big players but if you were up  8 k  you would think they would have welcomed my business
Report This is for BIG Players only • April 25, 2012 8:55 PM BST
true, I arbed with Bet365 for a while, won £5k off them and they still kept account open. But then, account was about 15 years old.
Report pete_de • April 25, 2012 8:59 PM BST
I think it had more to do with I took 4/1 with a 20p r4 and the selection won with an sp of 7/2 with NO r4
it took me several days to explain that with B O G  the 7/2 with no r4 was what I should be paid .
found it incredable I had to keep going higher up thier chain of command before I got paid

FATAL Pete. One shouldn't let these spivs know that you have more than 3 brain cells..

If you a winner, arber, or value seeker you are going to get closed down with bookies who only want mug punters. It's been happening for years and will continue to happen. To continue with your hobby/income earner you've got to put the bookies behind you and, if necessary, find new edges on the exchange(s).
Report THIS-IS-GETTING-REDICKULASS • April 25, 2012 10:25 PM BST
Correct Brian.
Report eyeamgr8 • April 25, 2012 10:41 PM BST
just like insurance details of people getting sold under the counter, you had better beleive that if you are a winner, clever arber, trader and getting the better of a firm, your details will be passed on in a brown envelope, for a price of course, but as we know the phone hacking never happened, until it was proved otherwise.
I would not trust any company or site, when they say they can assure that your details are not being passed on. ALL BOOKIES.are in it together..if you know what i mean.Excited

Opened an account with Sporting

Had £50 on a dog at 9/2
Went off 4/1

Race was void as my dog was knocked over and turned round

Account closed.
Beat that

(Maybe I knew the dog was clever and would go back)

Is it legal for the bookies to share customer details with each other?  I doubt very much it would be in the UK, but of course in Gib then no doubt anything goes.
Report RonEBiggs • April 26, 2012 10:06 AM BST
1) Keep changing computers
2) Alter User/Password
3) Give them mug bets - footie correct scores & tricasts etc

Good luck

I'm mildly surprised pete 20:59 that you got the best return paid, as the offer is best odds. Put to a legal test I suspect the crookmakers could ignore rule 4s etc etc

'not managed to get the better deal on the odd occasions its happened to me - but felt it wasnt worth pursuing in my case. Doubtless it was taken into 'account' re being shutdown but that doesn't prevent saying, good on you for chasing it.

Chelsea girl 20:44 surrendering the rock takes 'us' nowhere but would lead them to another med island etc or appropriately, some other Rig offshore.

Well over half of my bets were the following type  ... "Schalke to win with 3 or more goals scored in the match" on live or major league matches - no arb there but they still closed the account.

Very interesting. The Ladbrokes letter that Peter Higgins received (see above) is word for word the same as mine. Needless to say I'm still waiting for a reply to my request for an explanation.

I use Oddschecker and its now got to the position that only VC Bet and Paddy Power can be relied upon to take a decent bet.

Sid James have just effectively closed my account by restricting me to about £5. The last bet I had was 100/450 Big Buck's. Must have been too much for them to take.

Will horse racing bets with bookmakers soon be a thing of the past?

They've been at it all week, I know a couple of people who have had the same, and not off the back of having a win this week.

Not had one off them myself, although I rarely bet with them online aside from NFL (already restricted) and some of their specials markets.
