This guy must get a % of the winnings from Nicholls. He is always around him when they have a big winner.

He buys most of Nicholls' horses either from Ireland, France or off the Flat.
He therefore has dealt with the majority of Nicholls' owners, so takes a keen interest.
I don't think he gets a % of the winnings, just makes money on the difference between the purchase price of the horse and what he sells it on for.
For example he might buy an Irish pt-to-pt winner privately for 60,000 euros and tell Nicholls' owner it cost him 110,000 euro.

I'd imagine that he's come to different arrangements with different owners.

In various interviews with Nicholls owners, I've heard about them being rung up from France and being told, 'I've got one here you might like, should I buy it?' Of course, he might well already have bought the thing and just be shopping it around.

% of winnings would be a risky way to conduct business, but he probably trades enough horses to iron out the financial creases if that's the way he does business.

Anthony Bromley Bloodstock (or whatever his company are called) also buy a fair few at sales, so he can hardly lie to them about how much they cost.

I suspect that overall he takes about 10-15% of purchase price, plus costs, but that's a bit of a stab in the dark.

He's always around at the big meetings, with big owners, a) to schmooze with said owners and keep them sweet, and b) to raise his profile. How many other bloodstock agents can you name? He gets namechecked more than any other non-owner/trainer/jockey/racehorse in racing. Except maybe for that superb NH stallion Midnight Legend eh, Mr Pitman?

I should think AB is one of the more honest agents around.
The real rogues are the ones bidding up yearlings and foals on the Flat to raise the status of stallions.

The idea is to stand next to Nicholls when he has a big winner so that the next not so bright owner also hands him their money to spend, imo...
