The National should be banned. I know it is all exaggerated because the National is obviously televised, but it is about minimising risk. The fences are too high, and The Nagman was right in saying it does the sport's image no good at all. The protesters will be gathering as we speak, because as I said, it was nationally televised. The horses don't have to be subjected to big risks to make it entertaining.

So do you want it cancelled or banned?

IMO the problem is now the fences are too small and not too high, mixed with a huge field.

Because there are too many idiots wanting their '5 mins' of imbecilic attention seeking fame.

Thousands of racing fans were hoping all horses and riders came back safe and sound yesterday, while there seems to have been hundreds of idiots hoping that horses would die just so that they could complain about the national.

These forums have certainly proved that the ghouls were out in force this year.

there won't be any complaints next year because if the race is late going off then channel 4 will cut away to show countdown or whatever recorded show it is they put on after racing on a saturday.

don't worry though, I'm sure they'll give us the full result at the first advert break.
(or maybe they'll just ask aintree to start racing at noon)

I agree we should minimise risk. Consequently, I think you should order a ton of cotton wool, wrap yourself up tight and stay there. We don't want you taking any risks now do we?
