You're mad. Do you think horses are bright enough to say, phew don't fancy this 40 runner handicap round here today. Best unship the jockey but can't be assed to gallop I'll just hack canter over to that kind old snapper Byrne he'll put the vet right. However i cannot believe that the vet put his /her professional integrity on the line by giving a cursory inspection prior to the OK. The horse was fine just made an error at the 6th. It is still unsettling when an animal dies  doing what it was bred to do but we all know it happens.

Synchronised was fine before the race. All he did was jink and lose AP. Its not ideal to canter lose for a couple of furlongs but it was only i minor drawback to his chances. It looks like he was badly hurt after running lose in the race after getting up and running with the pack. Its easy to start pointing fingers but he could quite easily have gotten up and been caught and we would not be having this conversation.

Syncronised had a hard race in the gold cup and was due a long race.
The horse was not `up` for the race beforehand, I have never seen such obvious body language from a horse before. Jittery when throwing AP and definately didnt like the fences even before the race.
Of all people JJ O neil should have recogised this, he rode Alverton to win the gold cup in 1979 who then went on to aintree only to be killed.

The horse jinked slightly going under the tape, a few of the horses did but AP was only one to slip off. The horse was extremely relaxed being led back to meet AP again. People on here seem to be horse mind readers now!! most of the horses were on their toes.

I do however agree that he was never going to find it easy under top weight over these fences. I struggled to see him playing a part.

Everybody is guessing and to be fair some people will be talking out of their pockets or grievance. However, the person who probably best knew the horse was Jonjo. Before the Gold Cup he was asked why he had the gap between his race at Leopardstown and The Gold Cup and he said that the horse put so much effort into his races that he needed the time to recover between runs. Having been flat to the boards the whole way in The Gold Cup I am amazed that they ran him in The National at all.

It's a hard task trying to read people's body language but on here we have geniuses that can now read the body language of a horse.Unbelievable.The horse spooked at the white line drawn 20 yards behind the starting tape to get the runners in some semblance of a line before the start(which failed miserably incidentally).JP McManus wife bred this horse,they might even have races the dam and that whole family will be gutted they lost a Gold Cup winner today.I have even seen idiots writing that he was desperate to win the prize money and that's why the horse wasn't withdrawn.That man is responsible for keeping hundreds of people in a job with the amount of horses he has in training in Britain and Ireland and if he was that desperate for half a million quid he could put all his horses to a dispersal sale tomorrow,rake in millions from their sales and save himself a fortune in training fees,not to mention a load of grief from ill informed idiots who don't have a clue what they'te talking about.

Its not a day to ask why , or pick over bones of the decision to run him , who was to know or forsee the tradgedy of today , im sure the last thing anyone connected with the horse or yard want to see is a "why" or a "told you so thread "

You know how sporting the connections are with going for this race. I`m afraid the dream of making history with the horse was too much temptation, especially as he was a guaranteed stayer and running off his previous OR. AP must be quite regretful because he would have been the one to suggest if the horse could take to the fences or not. He is the race rider and his opinion could have turned it. AP struggles to believe anything is impossible and that turns into wishful thinking. Sad day today..not to mention i backed the runner up.

The horse was never in distress..........less worked up than most........OP and anyone supporting him/her should fukc off and take up knitting.

The horse ran around 1/2 a mile @ a steady pace no more
No sign of distress & had no bearing whatsoever with regard to its death.
The horse unfortunately was not the greatest of jumpers & despite winning gold cup made numerous errors.

Jumped the fence fine..............so no blame either to course or connections.

I was pretty unenthusiastic about Synchronised running, but not for this reason, this really is an ignorant post. The horse as the most chilled out in the field, the pre-race incident was nothing and the only damage was to AP's pride.

I did think at Cheltenham he was noticably screwing in the air at several fences though, which is not what you want at Aintree.

At the end of the day though, he's injured himself running loose, it could have happened anywhere.
