Frankel sustained an injury in a workout, he has a wide leg action as we all know and one of his back hoofs caught a front leg and badly bruised, swelling is down but its too risky to run him now considering his high value too breeding!

Firstly BBC did FAB coverage for 1st time in years. Secondly did anyone else notice that Clare originally said likely to be and then seemed distracted by her earpiece just before "correcting" herself saying retired?
Based on TV evidence, I think Clare Balding may have been following backroom orders. Whatever happend, she's great and let's hope Frankel makes a healthy fast recovery. |

I did notice that - I like Clare - possible she (or someone) misheard the message - unacceptable by the national broadcater irrespective of the circumstances but accept she may not have been to blame.
Main thing is potentially better news on a fantastic racehorse. |

Lord Teddy Grimthorpe has denied Frankel has been retired amid rumours on Saturday.
Winner of all nine of his starts to date, including the 2000 Guineas, St James's Palace Stakes and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes last year, Sir Henry Cecil's superstar was due to make his seasonal reappearance in the Lockinge at Newbury on May 19. However, he sustained an injury when working in Newmarket on Wednesday morning and is due for a scan next week. Rumours sparked by TV reports at Aintree spread that he had indeed been retired on Saturday, but that is not the case. Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah, told Racing UK: "He certainly hasn't been retired. I spoke to Henry two or three hours ago, I spoke to him this morning and I spoke to him last night. "No decision at all will be taken until after he has had this definitive scan which is due to take place next week. "No decision has been made regarding anything to do with his future at the moment. He certainly hasn't been retired at this stage and it's incorrect to think that. "We are hopeful and quite positive that he will be OK, but at the moment, we really don't know and it's too early to say." sporting life.... |

BBC/Balding a disgrace! It was not the time or place to start delivering bad news about another horse that was nothing to do with the Grand National when millions of easily confused members of Joe Public once a year punters are watching. What the hell were they thinking. Mugs
