Kept watching the big screen then hands and heels. Looked knackered

Let's hope whip-rules-cheating didn't decide that result

There would have been no messing if ap was on board, when he hit the elbow he should have got stuck in and took no chances

Was he just too knackered to hit the horse? Surely he can't have been worried about a whip ban.

Really should have got it home, imo. Few flakes might have made all the difference.

I think he thought he had it won as started to take it slightly easier with 50 yards to go. partly that and partly he was knackered i would imagine. certainly should have won.

had sunny to win and neptune for a place would have been a perfect result if sunny had won , if i was jonjo he would not ride for me again.
heart goes out to the owners of the two dead horses they are hurting a lot more than me.

Gets worse every time I rewind it and watch it over.

Really pathetic from McLernon in all fairness.

your right minty...... good up to the elbow and then just wet himself, nearly stopped ridding, if it was not the national , he'd be up for a non trier........

..... i fell bad, but  real bad day for j.p  on so many levels. the champ should have been up.

i didnt bet...but thought he was weak..surely he was just knackered....its going to haunt him for a long while if he wasnt knackered ...giving away the biggest race in the world for not whipping...you know about 400 yards from the line i thought he had dropped his whip...such was his inactivity!!!! i had this happen to me with a godolphin horse in the derby againt high rise..high rise jockey gets ban for winning,my guy just accepts it....you know if we didnt love this sport this much why would we ever bet on it!!!! i took a step back after that derby...my best wishes to johnjo and stable..lose a great horse and lose the grand national they should of won!!!

Thought he had dropped the whip too, was surprised to see he still had it on inspection after the race, though the horse hung away from the last smack so presume thats why he decided not to use it.

But once he had the rail to help would probably have been worth one more in retrospect (being as he hadnt used it at all in the last hundred yards).

Reminded me a bit of **** Pitman on Crisp tbh all those years ago, though the horse was nowhere near as knackered as that!

why look at the large screen r and try to win cosily, ride like like your life depends on it for ****s sake its the grand national

Poor.
Will he ever get another chance to win the race? Will haunt him for ever.
But thats the difference between champions and people who just dont want to win enough.
McCoy/Geraghty/Walsh push and smack every inch on that long run in and win that race 100% on that horse, ffff knows what he was doing the last 80 metres.
