Yes, but I fear the Balding interview if he does - great victory for the little man..............
Just look at the three ahead of him in the market - Riverside Theatre had a very tough race at Cheltenham and does he really want 3 miles and soft ground, Burton Port didn't progress from Newbury to Cheltenham and terrible round of jumping when AP rode him before and how many races does Medermit win? Plenty of encouragement I would have thought.

No...still got a mountain to climb is this race, its not a handicap...probably a step too far on soft ground... on the face of it,needs to improve another stone to trouble RT..

He can, of course, he might be the only one who stands up. But if it's a normal race I don't think he will. He's running against a lot of serious horses.

Of course it can but the likely hood is not reflected in the price. How many handicappers go on to win Grade 1s at the first attempt after winning off 142. This horse should be 16s minimum imho and is being priced on the owners hype imho

although i will not be backing hunt ball ,its a horse race and anything can happen so he cannot be ruled out ,also we dont know if he has stopped improving yet and judging by his profile he is still on an upward curve and who knows when it will stop .some of the opposition had harder races at the festival and may not be at thier best this time , looking at the entries nickys dont seem to be in top form at present ,although he could have his big guns ready for aintree ,if he was with more high profile connections he would be a lot shorter ,but his trainer obviously knows the time of day and he could suprise again put it this way i would not want to be a layer . it would be great for the sport a real boost for the small man so to speak .

yes spot on ryan and in all probability he will be outclassed as i said i wont be backing him but the question was can he win the betfair bowl and as its a horse race , there are reasons why he can win it .improbable but definatly possible .

thanks ryan. i really hope that post doesnt come back to haunt me because it could give my fellow formulites a lot of ammo against me. esp since im lumping on the beast at all prices down to 8/11.

Of course it's possible. I think he's way shorter than he should be though.. massive step up in class, and that's not taking in to account the trip, and I definitely think the less cut the better for him so the rain would have to be a worry too.
All about opinions though.

Would much rather back a horse progressing like him than the higher rated ones who are hardly setting the world alight, any ground fine as long as it wasnt a bog.

Ilwab never overrates a horse,he has the sixth sense and is telling you the future motley..............you should take note.He predicted STS winning the Derby and Arc two days after conception was confirmed.hth

Yeh, at least his is consistant, he has St Nicholas abbey down as a champion, if I was pricing up race with the current entries, I'd have him at aleast a 14/1 shot, and a lay place if they all stood their ground, but it's a horse race.

motley, huntball will win the betfair bowl by 10 eased down and theres nothing u or i can do about it. its be well documented on the gallops that the horse could beat sparky may carrying upward of 48 lbs more than her pulling a cart!

oh he'll do it gt. they shouldve went for the gold cup and the national imo.
couldve thrown away the whip at the start of both races, the horse will NEVER taste defeat for the rest of its life and will go down as the best since nortons coin!

theres absolutely no situation i can envisage where i wont be collecting 6 figures when this beast crosses the finish line in splendid isolation 20L clear of the pack.
cheers.

Ive never been to any of this horses weddings, ive layed a grand at 6.6 which is bundles for me.
Ive got stamina concerns, jumping concerns round this death trap and i think its up 2 more grades, apart from that i think its been the story of the jumps season, wont hoot if it wins just cant have it on my mind, that so called chelt race last time was an awful affair.

I think it'd do well to beat the ultra consistent Nacarat. Who will only be finishing third at best in any case. The Henderson third string has as good a chance of making the step up in grade and is much better value.
As I say I wouldn't be too sad if wrong because it would be a good story.

Sounds more like a night in the Stags Head than a bet ilwab, you can probably at least green up in running imo, should travel well for plenty long enough.Cant see why so many are so keen to dismiss him out of hand, steps up in grade but the others are no world beaters.

i think hes a great price. the racing at aintree this year isnt as good as other years. This is the only race im looking forward too and i expect him to win with RT 2nd. expect big thing from hunt ball.

Doubling with Synchronised at BOG 38/1 . Both doubted, both on the up. Rather back them than horses that have excuses made for them, will back Hunt Ball single with Paddys and get stake as free bet to put on Synchronised if it loses.
Burton Port my harse...

I've steamed in on Hunt Ball. I've asked myself this question. Would he have went close in this year's Gold Cup? IMO, yes he would. I think he won have almost won and he would have most certainly have beaten Burton Point. Stepping up it trip, but I don't see this as a problem the way he has been finishing his races. It might even bring out a bit more improvement!!! The horse also acts on soft going. I suggest the whole forum gets on Hunt Ball.

Not sure what to make of that as he travelled well but then only plugged on at one pace. Perhaps that is as good as he is at moment but if he is to make any further progress I think they need a new jockey as Scolfield isn't Grade 1 material - he is just too weak.
