Yes, but I fear the Balding interview if he does - great victory for the little man..............

Just look at the three ahead of him in the market - Riverside Theatre had a very tough race at Cheltenham and does he really want 3 miles and soft ground, Burton Port didn't progress from Newbury to Cheltenham and terrible round of jumping when AP rode him before and how many races does Medermit win? Plenty of encouragement I would have thought.
Report koikeeper April 10, 2012 8:09 PM BST
No...still got a mountain to climb is this race, its not a handicap...probably a step too far on soft ground...
on the face of it,needs to improve another stone to trouble RT..
Report andrewbjm April 10, 2012 8:14 PM BST
will RT run at his best though after a slog last time out?

burton port has c&d form, can see mccoy driving him home at the finish.

Report strontium April 10, 2012 8:25 PM BST
He can, of course, he might be the only one who stands up. But if it's a normal race I don't think he will. He's running against a lot of serious horses.
Report pllecornu1982 April 10, 2012 8:28 PM BST
It'll be great if he gets close, if he wins it'll be the stuff fairytales are made of.
Report ilikewavingatbuses April 10, 2012 8:37 PM BST

Report Diamond_Joe_Quimby April 10, 2012 9:35 PM BST
Of course it can but the likely hood is not reflected in the price. How many handicappers go on to win Grade 1s at the first attempt after winning off 142. This horse should be 16s minimum imho and is being priced on the owners hype imho

Report FOYLESWAR April 10, 2012 9:58 PM BST
although i will not be backing hunt ball ,its a horse race and anything can happen so he cannot be ruled out ,also we dont know if he has stopped improving yet and judging by his profile he is still on an upward curve and who knows when it will stop .some of the opposition had harder races at the festival and may not be at thier best this time , looking at the entries nickys dont seem to be in top form at present ,although he could have his big guns ready for aintree ,if he was with more high profile connections he would be a lot shorter ,but his trainer obviously knows the time of day and he could suprise again  put it this way i would not want to be a layer . it would be great for the sport a real boost for the small man so to speak .
Report RyanWe April 10, 2012 10:03 PM BST

It's only BP's and RT's 3rd.

yes spot on ryan and in all probability he will be outclassed  as i said i wont be backing him but the question was can he win the betfair bowl and as its a horse race , there are reasons why he can win it .improbable but definatly possible .
Report ilikewavingatbuses April 10, 2012 10:12 PM BST
thanks ryan. i really hope that post doesnt come back to haunt me because it could give my fellow formulites a lot of ammo against me. esp since im lumping on the beast at all prices down to 8/11.
Report RyanWe April 10, 2012 10:14 PM BST
Of course it's possible. I think he's way shorter than he should be though.. massive step up in class, and that's not taking in to account the trip, and I definitely think the less cut the better for him so the rain would have to be a worry too.

All about opinions though.

I think he won have almost won and he would have most certainly have beaten Burton Point. Stepping up it trip, but I don't see this as a problem the way he has been finishing his races. It might even bring out a bit more improvement!!! The horse also acts on soft going. I suggest the whole forum gets on Hunt Ball. Happy
