A chance on good ground but will be left toiling on soft. I think that his bubble will be well and truly burst.

THE going on Aintree's Grand National course was changed to soft, good to soft in places after 11mm of rain fell at the track overnight Sunday intoMonday.

Underfoot conditions had previously been advertised as good but clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch made the switch after walking the track early on Monday afternoon.

Tulloch said: "We have had 11mm so far but it is still raining and is expected to rain into the late afternoon, early evening and then peter out.

"Temperatures are getting quite low, down to 1c or zero so we are not going to lose a lot [of moisture] really.

"This rain was forecast and there are some more showers about later in the week which could deliver three or four millimetres if we catch one."

The going on the Mildmay and hurdle tracks wasdescribed as good to soft, soft in places on Monday with GoingStick readings of 6.4 on the Mildmay track and 6.3 on the hurdles.

riverside theatre is one of my favourite horses, but think cheltenham may've taken too much out of the tank.

Could well win again on Thursday, most progressive chaser seen for some time other than a few nice novices.Angel Gabriel barking up the wrong tree if he thinks the ground will be his undoing, has form on GF through to Heavy, few as versatile ground wise.
Report judorick April 10, 2012 12:35 AM BST
faces proper horses for the first time and there is no telling how he will handle it

yes he won well at Cheltenham but that was a Novices handicap and he ran off 142

level weights with horses rated 165+ in an open Grade 1 is a totally different matter

be fascinating to see how he copes
Report GT-MOLE April 10, 2012 12:44 AM BST
Fair comment Judorick but the rest have hardly been setting the world alight, with the Gold Cup proving a huge let down we need a new kid on the block to liven up the Grade1 scene.Getting away from the betting aspect,he will be a fantastic contrast to Long Run and connections if he can cut it.

Btw It would be foolish to write off Long Run as a has been and fascinating if Hunt Ball and a few of this seasons good novices kick off against each other perhaps in the BF Chase.
Report judorick April 10, 2012 1:14 AM BST
I'm only talking about the Betfair Bowl, not speculating beyond that, because Hunt Ball is facing just about as big a step up in class it is possible to make

Píssing down over there for 2 days now, and more rain forecast.

I'm going to have to take a coat Angry

not nailing anything to anything

no one can tell how the horse will get on because he hasn't faced this calibre of opponent

be fascinating to see what happens but there is no point being too bullish either way because on the bare form he has plenty to find but there is no telling how much more he has in the locker

That could cost you dearly ilwab..............she must be due a new pouffe by now.Whoops

I went to Fakenham today instead of Yarmouth,I asked the OH what she thought of Fakenham.......she said "I often do but you are too drunk to notice".SurprisedShocked

When we went for a meal in Dereham we bumped into a young lad carrying a sofa on his head and an armchair under each arm.His mum was going mad and slapping him around the head,he kept howling about somebody called Skinto from Gt Yarmouth.

The last thing we heard before going into the Indian was his mum shouting "I dont care if you met him through the Betfair Forum...............how many times do you have to be told..........never accept suites from strangers"
