Anyone got any strong opinions on how this is going to play out.3 weeks to go and Nicholls has his nose in front.Nicholls had a couple of winners today that battled on tenaciously while Henderson had a couple that folded tamely.Nicholls is 9 winners from his last 20 runners Henderson is 2/20.The Market seems to be pricing in a repeat of the Cheltenham festival at Aintree for Henderson but he doesn't have a great record there.
I think Nicholls should be slight favourite-the2/1 available is great value. The one doubt that I have is one of Hendersons getting placed in the National. If Nicholls is even slightly ahead this time next week its game over.

They will both have one runner each in the National.....Nicko will have plenty in at Aintree but Nicholls horses are in rare form and he runs the banker Big Bucks as well as plenty ....obviously if anything goes close in the National, ie 1st 3 then coupled with a few others it is curtains for the other.....imo its a pick for the two of them and should be interesting...

All my Aintree money has gone on Nicholls-should make next weekend interesting.
Thanks for the reply Overseas.

Good luck eddie....other than Aintree, Ayr is also decent money and finally the bet365 race (used to be Whitbread) at Sandown..tbf next week should decide...

Thanks Overseas-I have it in the back of my mind that Nicholls will be the more ruthless if it comes to a war of attrition.
Report OVERSEAS April 7, 2012 11:19 PM BST
Nicko does have a strong hand in the Betfred Bowl race and should be strong in the novice events but hopefully in addition to Big Bucks, Nicholls will run the likes of Rock on Ruby, Zarkandar and many of his novices..

Hope Henderson loses. The guy is not the best pillar of society. Looks out for himself, has no regard for the people who follow the sport and if he had not had the 'big' name friends would have been warned off years ago.

Nicholls stable is now firing and Hendersons has slumped but its always good to see the smaller stables having wins like today.

Hannon looks like he will be adding more to his win tally soon having three of his horses in the frame in the same race today!

Henderson pulled back a couple of grand today but it was in a race where only 3 finished and the race was gifted to the winner-still not convinced that the stable is in form.
Two solid chances for Nicholls tomorrow,Henderson has five entered.

Nice double for Nicholls today -the stable is buzzing.Still 2s in a place-decent bet at odds against in my opinion.

Thought Hendersons 2 at Fairyhouse were disappointing -one tailed off in the handicap hurdle and Bellvano struggling in 4th when he came down at the last.
Be interesting to see how their favourite does in bumper-not looking like a stable in peak form to me.

Hard to know what to make of Snake Eyes -best horse in the race but didn't get home.
Report properpunter April 10, 2012 6:22 PM BST
Think Snake Eyes should have been held onto for a fair bit longer.....

Let's hope that if it is going to the wire, that Nicholls doesn't get desperate with his Hunters. An unedifying state of affairs a few years ago when he and Pipe were slugging it out.

Nicholls has a right squad tomorrow-if Hendersons three get beaten in the 3 mile chase I think Nicholls will be favourite.

Just seen Sid James going 8/11 Henderson .. Evens nicholls
Report Eddie Batt April 12, 2012 9:54 PM BST
The evens on Nicholls is decent value-I wouldn't make him any bigger then 4/6.
Being dogmatic about trainer form is a recipe for a kick in the stones but with the exception of Burton Port the Henderson runners were beaten out of sight today.

I remember reading Nicholls book and his battles with Martin Pipe,he wants it,i suppose they both do,but Nicholls sees it as a 'right of passage'.Hopefully,as i think he is a top bloke,he has got the ammunition.
Report duddler April 12, 2012 10:06 PM BST
Think that if Henderson takes the lead Nicholls will keep running horse in minor races to take the lead back. Henderson not obsessed with winning title and will not run horses solely for that purpose
Report Busvaldo April 12, 2012 10:10 PM BST
Agreed duddler,i think it resonates personally with Nicholls and Henderson is quite relaxed about it.
