How strongly you fancy the horses chances?

Past and present, for obvious and not so logical reasons the following are/were jockeys whom I simply couldnt trust with the hard earned. And some whom I would/did punt on where a horses chance wasnt obvious.

Lester Piggot - In both categories
Frank Spencer - Never,even in a walkover
Pat Eddery - ditto with Frank
Richard Hughes - ditto with Lester
Wilson Renwick - ditto with Frank
Rodi Greene - ditto with Frank

A  few more in both categories, interesting to see if anyone else has the same opinion/bogies?

Just one of those things richters, the final straw for may was at Yarmouth,I had a grand on him in a Seller at 11/10,£100 ew on a 10/1 shot and luckily a rev fcast with the 2 of them.

Thommo was creaming his pants and his exact words were "And here comes Jamie showboating down the centre of the track, its a procession"........4 or 5l clear with about 100yards to go.......eased up and caught on the line by the 10/1 shot.

Financially for me no big deal but there were plenty he had cost money, never backed him since other than a couple last year when the horses chances were too good to ignore.Posting on here at evening meetings with the lads almost without exception thinking they were good things...........he got them beaten somehow,so never again.

Strangely enough we did a similar thing with Fallon around the same time.........same result.........ditto never again.Cry

Shane Kelly

Never,ever,ever again.

The fuc ker would get Frankel beat in a Class C Handicap
Report herblington April 3, 2012 12:50 AM BST
Dickie Hills stands out for me personally - i had a lucky 15 once and had 3 decent winners up and I was sitting on £400 for a £15 stake if Dickie could get one of Hamdans up in the last at Ripon, sent off 8/11 in a 5 runner race the clown managed to get boxed in, flew in the final half furlong and lost by a nostril.......... absolute grade one idiot..... he will not be missed, others of note are

Shane Kelly - whoever said he would get beat on Frankel is spot on, incompetent or a cheat, who knows???

Dane O'Neil - about as strong and willing in a finish as a Ryvita

Dougie costello - worst last jump rider I have ever seen, utterly hopeless

The Dickie of the Jumps Johnson - Other than Quinz last year in the RP chase he has cost me fortunes....... and the more I think about that win I reckon the nag was probably on more dope than Keith Richards given subsequent efforts

Finally special mention for Choc Thornton who is a jockey I can never catch and therefore do not back him even when i reckon one is 10lbs well in.......... a tactic that has served me very well this year!!!

Rodi Greene, a few years ago Rodi on a Sunday used to win a few. It was my catch phrase "Rodi on a Sunday", might be my poor memory but he did win a few for me.To be fair on most of his mounts he was pushing and shoving just to get them to round the pre parade ring.

to be honest, there is no other jockey that puts me off backing a horse like joseph o'brien, i've never met him but personally want to choke him after some of the gaffe's he's produced.

if coolmore want to get the best stallion prices for their horses in the future and as many g1s as possible then they need to do the right thing and get a top bloke in.

G.lee, horses won races in spite of him not because of him and it will be interesting to see how much of a disaster he makes of the flat.
He always gave me the impression Spencer was his hero with the way he gave horses too much to do, having said that, Spencer is not quite such an idiot these days.     Still an idiot tho.

james best is a cracking young jock when he tries anyway but i take it your point is he doesnt try that often for obvious reasons he is very good when he goes from the front on one however.. o regan not many better than him on his day..

Re: O'Regan, I agree that he's a good jock on his day; I just seem to catch him whenever he isn't....and when he isn't, he REALLY isn't!

Dennis O`Regan is an excellent jockey but he appears weak in a finish which puts people off but his skill is out the country.
Report thegiggilo April 5, 2012 12:50 AM BST
Pointless worrying about specific jockeys especially if the horse ticks all the boxes, form always comes through in the end even if you do hit one or two dodgy rides, those dodgy rides can be by nearly every single jockey if not all!!Cool
Report GT-MOLE April 5, 2012 2:11 AM BST
The point is gigs, even horses that tick all the boxes can be undone by certain jockeys, plenty listed who have been duplicated in the posts, cant be coincidence imo.
Report thegiggilo April 5, 2012 2:24 AM BST
My jocks wouldn't be all the obvious instigators, infact it would be others that punters consider straighter i very rarely look at the jock unless they havn't rode the horse before. It's something i used to do years ago, there's enough to do without being concerned about jocks and unlike most on here i don't see non triers everyday, the one thing i will say is that i have seen more the past year!
