Would the Royal Mail refuse to take your parcel because they knew you normally use DHL?

Anyone able to explain this without the code?

RDT have today sent an email to all their customers regarding their new software release.  In the email, they state that they will not be prepared to offer RDT to anyone who uses other software as well.  There are a few people who have been trying out Elite Software while it is free but are not as yet prepared to move from RDT.  RDT is not going to allow this and will no longer provide RDT to anyone who uses another supplier as well.

Surely if you have RDT on your computer, you can use it, how can they stop you, obviously you will eventually fall behind if they dont give you upgrades.

as you probably know , wasnot , there are also some who use exante but also use RDT at festival meeting because of internet connection problems.
how do they fare?

I suppose they can refuse you access to the network and hence shows/networking etc.  I have a contract with RDT and it says nothing in there about exclusivity.  If it had I would not have signed it and purchased their pretty expensive equipment I needed to get on their network.

Wasnot - thanks for reply. What about likes of KZN who I thought regularly switch between exante and RDT.

Same adge, if you are not exclusively RDT they are to deny you any RDT.

They will no longer be able to Davy, according to the email.

So if an Exante user wanted to pay RDT to load their software in tandem RDT wouldn't do it ? Incomprehensible and effectively turning money away !! Confused

i was enquiring with nick daisley at cheltenham.
he uses exante but has recently purchased the RDT software and a keyboard and dongle for just under £500 for just this very purpose. he will not be pleased

It does seem a strange way to carry on demo.  Their daily costs are fixed so I would have thought they would have been glad of the extra money on the days when occasional users chip in.  I guess they are gambling on the casuals all signing up with them.  Not sure that is going to work.  What they have done is signal to everyone that they consider Elite to be a credible threat.  Elite will probably get more enquiries than ever now!

They claim that some of their 'loyal' customer have written to them to point out that it is unfair that RDT is available to bookmakers that don't use them all the time.  Mmmm...  Make your own minds up about that one.

their gripe seems to be that some use other software most of the year but when it comes to a big meeting like cheltenham they then want to use rdt for their connection,if that is the sum of it i can see their point but maybe there are ulterior motives, who knows?

Rearrange these words into an appropriate reply:

'Lindsay, ar$e, I'll, your, black, Maurice, hole, sue, a, into'

And please don't make the mistake of thinking I'm joking.

ribero1 - the exante/elite users are not going to sign up with RDT as a result of this.  Perhaps they would have been better off charging a premium to other users?

I understand the dongle at cheltenham worked this year, so maybe exante/elite didnt need to switch.

Do you have your contract to hand Paddy?  When you signed up was there any mention of the service (which required a considerable investment) being curtailed as a result of you not using RDT exclusively?

Davy - first day it didn't.  Other days it did.  Who can tell what will happen next year?

Wassy, I was totally straight with them when I went to see them. They knew exactly why and when I needed the system. They were perfectly happy to supply me with what I wnated for the reasons I wanted it.

I'm not sure a supplier can deny access to a product based purely on agreeing exclusivity (a monopoly supplier of on-course bookmaker wi-fi at that).  Will have to have a little read of the competition act.

paddy ,
you were handing cash over . would have been very difficult to turn you away.
they are itching to put the daily fee up to £25 if this action has the desired effect
By:

i think the fee should be staggered depending on who you get.

What is the difference to RDT say between a dual software user who uses their system let's say 10 times a year and a single, exclusive RDT user who only goes out 10 times a year ?
By:

Maybe it could be all sorted swiftly if you had to pre pay or book when and where you will be using the system

All sounds like sour grapes from RDT

would more sign up to rdt if they had bf instead of purple?

I would imagine so, ribero1.  I was planning on using RDT about 50 times this year.  Guess that'll now be zero.

I think so Ribero

My neighbour at Cheltenham was having problems all day on the 1st day and no sign of any backup from Exante

i would like it as you could do a few things in-running but the real consequences would be that we would all bet even worse!

I have used Elite 22 time now so I am ahead by £440. I find the system to be robust with very few issues.

Once you have the differances of keyboard in your head it is as easy to use as Rdt.

I think this e-mail may well have a bully boy effect on a few with poor I.T. skills, but I believe all in all that its a better system.
