can't believe it's worked! Horizontal lines at the bottom of some time now, and yesterday it seemed to have died and there was just a thin multi-coloured line horizontal line in the middle. I thought it was dead... but it wasn't 
All I had to do was to resolder the connection to the vertical IC heatsink and it's absolutely fine! I am so impressed.

I keep hoping and praying my tele breaks down so I can go out and buy a bigger and better one without getting earache off the misses. 60 inch for me next time
Shame their wasn't any in running betting on this imo 
The best way to fix a telly giving trouble like that is to pick a big window about 5 or 6 floors up. Guaranteed to work. Please check for passers-by beforehand.
yes them old black and white sets are easy to repair
